October is a busy month when it comes to awareness!

October brings us Down syndrome Awareness Month, Visual Impairment Awareness Month, Dwarfism Awareness Month, Spina Bifida Awareness Month, and ADHD Awareness Month!! We invite you to head on over to our website to ‘meet’ some of the incredible children who wait. We are thrilled to be able to offer an additional $1,000 grant to any home study ready family who commits to a child with one of these diagnoses during the month of October! And while we join together to celebrate our waiting children with these needs, we remind you that each and every child is so much more than a diagnosis! Stay tuned to our blog throughout the month as we share stories and testimonials from families who have adopted children with these special needs!
From preschool to college, this school year is anything but normal for students and their parents. The challenges of virtual learning, disruption to established routines, and reduced services can be especially challenging for adoptive families. The NCFA has compiled a list of resources to encourage and equip adoptive parents as you begin a new school year in these difficult times.

Dr. Karyn Purvis’s book The Connected Child has changed lives, and the NCFA is pleased to see that a new book authored by Dr. Purvis and Lisa Qualls, The Connected Parent, has come out, offering science-based, hope-filled strategies for caring for and promoting healing of children from hard places.

IMPORTANT!
Several USCIS fees were due to change October 2, 2020. Those changes have been preliminarily stayed as of September 29, pending a legal decision. For now, they will not go into effect.
We will keep you updated.
If you are not in a position to adopt right now, but still feel compelled to help, please know that you can always make a donation directly to Madison Adoption Associates. Your generous gift will be directed where it is needed most, whether that be to provide food and medical services to vulnerable children both domestically and internationally, to support MAA’s growing therapeutic support services for adoptive and foster families, to help ease the financial burden for adoptive families, and/or many other areas where MAA serves deserving children. So please – consider making a tax-deductible donation today, so that children around the world may have a chance for a brighter tomorrow.
