Support Our Students!

Marcos* is a 4th-grader in Santa Fe. He's supposed to be participating in online learning with his classmates, but his family cannot afford basic internet service. Nearly 4 percent of SFPS students don't have access to basic internet, and therefore cannot join their classes.

A new Partners initiative is helping to keep these students literally connected to their education. The Support Our Students (SOS) Project is raising funds to help families who can't afford internet service, as well as to provide school supplies for students who can't afford them.
Some 200 families need assistance to install internet in their homes so their children can attend class online. For just $20 a month, we can help provide this service. The SOS Project is off to a great start with a generous $5,000 grant from the Santa Fe Community Foundation, but we need more funding to make sure everyone has the access they need.

Please consider helping us bridge this digital gap. You can make a contribution online here. Be sure to designate "Support Our Students Project" from the drop-down menu.

Or you can send a check. Please make it out to "Partners in Education" and write SOS in the memo line. Mail to:

What's New for ArtWorks?

Vibrant artwork by Azalea Rodriguez from Katie Sward's first grade class.
ArtWorks is excited to offer safe and remote arts education to SFPS teachers and students during the 2020-2021 school year.

Based on feedback from teachers, students, district staff, museum and performing arts partners, and ArtWorks teaching artists, ArtWorks has adapted its program and arts experiences to work with SFPS remote learning. This includes shorter workshops, the option of virtual museum tours, additional curricular tie-ins, and art supply distribution.

To say that teaching during a pandemic is challenging is an understatement. ArtWorks is happy to be supporting our hardworking SFPS teachers by connecting them and their students with creative expression, quality artwork, and connections within their community.

If you are an ArtWorks teacher and would like more information about the 2020-2021 school year, please contact program director Erin De Rosa:
Let's Take A (Virtual) Field Trip!
Image from El Rancho de Las Golondrinas. Photo: Richard Gonzales.
The SFPS District's shift to virtual classrooms inspired PIE and our partners to seek virtual field trip destinations. In addition to trips in and around Santa Fe that PIE buses provided, teachers can now take their students to places across New Mexico, the nation, and the world - virtually!

To that end, Partners is compiling a directory with links to museums, planetariums, zoos, aquariums, state and national parks, and historical sites. For example, the directory includes offerings from River Source, Spaceport America (coming soon), Ellis Island, Carlsbad Caverns, and Yellowstone National Park. There are also links to more familiar sites: the Santa Fe Children's Museum, El Rancho de las Golondrinas, and Meow Wolf.

The directory will be available soon via the PIE website and Facebook page, and on the SFPS District website. Please feel free to contact Shelley Cohen directly for more information: Happy Travels!

Thank You Lineberry Foundation!
PIE has received a generous donation from long-standing supporter, the Lineberry Foundation.

Funds from the Foundation are usually designated to support field trips for SFPS teachers and students. This year, the funds will be able to be used with broader discretion since in-person field trips are currently not possible.

Thank you, Lineberry Foundation, for your continued support!

Partners in Education has been supporting teachers in our public schools for 32 years. That's all we do. We invite you to read on to see how our programs help teachers to make a difference in the community. Your donation can be directed to a specific program or to Partners in Education in general.

Have you ever seen a big yellow school bus outside the Lensic or a museum? Each year, donors like you provide the funding for buses for nearly 600 public school classes to go on  transformative educational adventures.

The Teacher Warehouse is currently closed until further notice. We will update you when we're able to reopen.

ArtWorks is an aesthetic education program that builds critical thinking skills and frees young imaginations. ArtWorks makes the arts personally meaningful to over 1,800 public school students and teachers through an integrated program of art-making, viewing live performances and exhibits, and achieving understanding through inquiry and reflection.

Through the generosity of donors like you, classroom teachers receive grants for innovative, curriculum-based projects. Partners in Education awards over $50,000 to about 60 teachers each year.

Partners in Education also honors seven Santa Fe Public School teachers each year with the Teachers Who Inspire awards.

The Partners in Education Foundation for the Santa Fe Public Schools seeks to marshal resources and create alliances to foster excellence in Santa Fe's public schools.

ArtWorks' mission is to make the arts personally meaningful to children and elementary school teachers through an integrated program of art-making, viewing virtual or live performances and exhibits, and achieving understanding through inquiry and reflection.
