Our Success Depends on Our Staff
Staff Spotlight: Brian Gunnells

Lead cook at Caliente, Brian Gunnells hails from Savannah, Georgia, which is easily detected by his slow southern drawl. He started in food service 18 years ago in Savannah and was taken under the wing of his first boss who fostered his interested in cooking. Before moving to Alaska, he also worked and lived in Greenville, South Carolina, refining his skills.

Brian has a calm, quiet nature and is amazingly efficient in is work. He takes pride in providing an excellent product and ensuring the student's order is perfect each and every time.

Brian loves working at UAA, enjoys the students and takes a keen interest in knowing their likes and wants and ensuring they are happy with the meals they produce at Caliente. When asked about his 5-year plan, Brian wants to remain right where he is, working with NMS on campus and watching the students' progress through their education and hearing about their plans after graduation.

Caliente Catering

Caliente offers catering for parties starting with a minimum of 30 people. We will be promoting this with a mailer to all departments, posted on Green & Gold and a new page on the Seawolf Dining website.
