Second Home is committed to supporting our students and home providers during the current pandemic. We have seen a surge of referrals since schools have closed. It is hard to stay home when you do not have one. Because our students are even more vulnerable than ever during this time, we are actively recruiting host homes.
Second Home has been taking the following measures for the safety and health of our home providers and students:

  • Communicating electronically prior to move-in, either by telephone or video call, as much as possible.
  • Contacting our current home providers and students more regularly to assess needs of our community.
  • Developing an “assumption of risk form” that highlights information about the current pandemic, as well as best practice and agreement towards best practice.
  • Continuing to assess best practices and encourage our students and partners to follow CDC and state guidelines.
Second Home staff are exploring creative outreach opportunities and would love to connect with our community partners to get the word out about our need for host homes.
If you are involved in any virtual meetings, social hours or worship gatherings that can accommodate one of our team members sharing information about Second Home, please let us know!
Furthermore, if you have additional suggestions or creative ideas for ways we could get the word out to recruit host homes with social distancing measures in place, we would love to hear them. Feel free to reach out to Amy Brownell for Washington County at or Adam Jenkins for Gresham-Barlow and Clackamas County at .
If you or someone you know are wanting to take the first step in becoming a home provider for Second Home, our need is greater now than ever before. Please consider joining us and fill out a secure application .
