Dr. Pierre Cartier has over 10 years of experience in dental medicine and public health practice.  He has worked as a dental officer for the District of Columbia Department of Health's Community Health Administration since 2014, and is actively leading an effort to further integrate oral health into the District's comprehensive health and wellness programming.
A key objective of his program is to increase comprehensive oral healthcare utilization among District families.  Given the widespread biological implications of oral health, Dr. Cartier emphasizes dental care as an integral component of primary care medicine.

Dr. Cartier is a 2000 alumnus of Centre College.  He earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2005, and subsequently completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Bolling Air Force Base in 2006.  Following seven years of active clinical practice, Dr. Cartier elected to pursue a Master in Public Health degree in Epidemiology at The George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health; he completed this degree in 2014 and earned a graduate certificate in Health Policy in 2015.
