District 8 seeks Sites for Potential New Schools
Williston Herald - With a bond vote about a month away in Williams County Public School District No. 8, board members have started to work with the city of Williston about a proposed location for a school inside city limits. The site, located on 11th Street West between 32nd and 48th avenues, is near the old Baker Hughes building, which was recently bought by Halliburton. Read More

Districts 1 and 8 meet with Legislators in Bismarck

Williston Public School District No. 1 has been seeking to build two new elementary schools to meet the demands of overcrowding. 
Williston Herald - A meeting on Friday, April 12, between the two school districts that serve Williston and the North Dakota Board of Public Education lasted more than two hours and covered a wide range of topics, from annexation to state funding. Here are three big takeaways from that meeting.

Second Opportunity celebrates Grand Opening in Williston

Williston Economic Development - The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors helped Second Opportunity celebrate its grand opening and ribbon cutting recently. The business is located in the former Hedahl's building on 2nd St. W. Second Opportunity sells used furniture, building supplies and other items such as lighting, cabinetry, doors and windows.
City of Williston teaches Students about City Planning
Williston Economic Development - The City of Williston helped with Marketplace with Kids on Friday, April 12. Planning and zoning and economic development held a class instructing students how to design a community. Pictured is Rachel Laqua, principal planner and two students who participated in the class.
Students learn about Healthcare Careers at Scrubs Camp
KUMV-TV - Current healthcare employees remind us that it is never too early to recruit, especially because western North Dakota is in need of more healthcare workers. Professionals and high school students are encouraging sixth through eighth grade students to look into the possibility of taking up a career in the healthcare industry at the Scrubs Camp in Williston. Passionate promoters of the event say places like Williston, Watford City, Tioga, and Stanley are in dire need of healthcare workers. Read More
Williston DMV to move to Williams County Administration Building
Williston Herald - The Williams County Commission voted 5-0 Tuesday, April 16, to start the process to move Williston's DMV office. The DMV, which is currently housed in an office on Highland Drive, will move into the County Administration Building on East Broadway by the end of this year. The move has been in the works since the county took over running the DMV late last year. The current office is leased from the Williston State College Foundation, and the lease expired Dec. 31, according to Helen Askim, HR director for Williams County. Read More
Watford City Students attend Youth Entrepreneurs Class 
McKenzie County Farmer - After much learning and planning, Watford City High School (W.C.H.S.) students of Aaron Cumming's Youth Entrepreneurs class were given the opportunity to launch their self-made products into action last week. "I was so impressed with the students. They had their laptops and everything in front of them, they were so organized," says Gretchen Stenehjem of First International Bank & Trust, which sponsored the program. ConocoPhillips gives $273,275 to North Dakota Charitable Organizations

Roundup - ConocoPhillips today announced the presentation of $273,275 in charitable grants to 17 organizations in North Dakota.
Each year, ConocoPhillips invests in local communities through charitable giving, employee volunteering and sponsorships. This year's donations are primarily targeted toward education, conservation, first responders and other local services. They also include a $100,000 donation to the Prairie Pothole Joint Venture that protects, restores and enhances high-priority wetland and grassland habitat to help sustain bird populations. Read More

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up to clean a specific zone or attend the clean up on Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Davidson Park.

05/06-07 ------ Shrine Circus
The 88th Shrine Circus will be held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Raymond Family Community Center.

05/08 ------ 1 Million Cups
The community is invited to 1MC at 8:30 a.m. at Williston State College Teton Lounge. The featured businesses will be Deja Brew Coffee and Elite Designz!

The community is invited to Williston Mayor Howard Klug's annual address and free lunch at the Grand Williston Hotel from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
