Every Member a Minister: Leading True to Yourself for the Good of All
Leadership doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.
Sometimes it’s loud—a clear voice in the room, naming direction, calling people forward.
Sometimes it’s soft—the person who notices what’s being left unsaid and creates space for others to speak.
Some leaders are organized, energized by plans and structure.
Others are disorganized in the best way—creative, adaptive, able to move when the moment shifts.
Some of us need time to process, to think our way into wise decisions.
Others can make a quick call, trusting instinct and experience.
All of these ways of showing up can be faithful.
All of them can be forms of leadership.
And all of them shape the communities we serve.
And because we have adopted the mission of every member a minister, we are all leading each time we are on our campus or with our church community.
In February we will be guided in this work by the Rev. Dr. Jon Singletary of Baylor University. Jon’s work has been cultured and curated to focus on leadership through the lens of the Enneagram. His work reminds us that leadership grounded in reflection, empathy, and responsibility can be transformative.
Through the Enneagram, we will discover that our skills and styles are not wrong. But that we can notice how we lead, why we lead that way, and what happens under pressure. It gives us language for our strengths, compassion for our limits, and curiosity about the people who lead differently than we do.
At the heart of every member a minister we see that leadership is not reserved for a few titles or temperaments. It lives in classrooms and implementation teams, conversations and crises, in those who speak first and those who listen deeply.
This workshop is an invitation to better self-awareness—not as an end in itself, but as a gift to the people we lead and the church we love. And we want everyone to participate.
So come curious.
Come honest.
Come exactly as you are.
Because the way you lead matters—and learning to lead with greater awareness is a gift worth giving yourself.

Holy Land Journey of Faith
May 5–16, 2026 | Led by Rev. Carrie Veal and Rev. Charles Johnson
For centuries, Christians have traveled to the Holy Land to walk where Jesus walked and experience the places of his life and ministry. Though the landscape has changed, the meaning has not. These journeys offer a deeper connection to scripture and to one another.
In May 2026, Second B will journey together on a twelve day pilgrimage to places such as the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Garden Tomb, Masada, and the Dead Sea. The trip will include time for worship, prayer, and reflection as we travel together.

Pastor Emeritus Service Honoring Pastor Charlie Johnson
Sunday, May 24 | Worship Hall
We have decided to postpone Rev. Charlie Johnson’s Pastor Emeritus celebration that had been scheduled for this Sunday, January 25, due to the unpredictable weather forecast.
In consultation with Charlie, we believe this is the best decision to ensure everyone’s safety.
We are closely monitoring the forecast and plan to make a decision about Sunday’s worship and activities by Friday at noon.
We will share updates as soon as they are available.

Jen Hatmaker: Why It’s a Big Deal
that She is Coming
Thursday, April 9, 2026 | Worship Hall
Bringing Jen Hatmaker is a big deal—especially for women—because of the way she has helped shape a generation work through their faith in a way that is honest, brave, and deeply rooted in love.
For many women, Jen has been a trusted voice at moments when faith felt complicated, fragile, or costly. Through her bestselling books, widely read blog, and the For the Love podcast, she has given language to questions women were often told not to ask—and permission to keep showing up anyway. She writes and speaks with humor, clarity, and compassion about faith, marriage, motherhood, justice, grief, friendship, and change, always centering the dignity and worth of women.
Jen’s impact isn’t just about popularity—it’s about courage. She has modeled what it looks like to tell the truth, even when it comes at a personal cost. For countless women, that witness has been freeing. She has helped women trust their own voices, honor their lived experiences, and believe that faith can expand rather than shrink as we grow.
At a time when many women feel isolated or unsure whether their questions are welcome in faith spaces, Jen Hatmaker has consistently said: you belong here. Her work has opened doors for deeper conversations, stronger community, and a more spacious, resilient faith.
That’s why this matters. This is not just a guest speaker—it’s an opportunity to gather around a voice that has helped women feel seen, brave, and less alone.
