Welcoming Rev. Carrie Veal in View of a Call
The Senior Pastor Search Committee is thrilled to introduce Rev. Carrie Veal, who is coming to us from Charlotte, NC, in view of a call as our Senior Pastor! We invite you to join us March 29–30 to hear her preach, meet her in person, and learn more about her ministry.

This Sunday: Living on the Edge in Lubbock
On Sunday, March 30, at 4:00 PM, Second Baptist Church will host “Living on the Edge in Lubbock,” a panel discussion addressing the challenges faced by individuals living on the edge of poverty. This event will take place in our main auditorium and will feature four local leaders dedicated to serving those in need.
Panelists and Their Ministries:

Christy Reeves – Habitat for Humanity: Helping families achieve homeownership and stability.

Lynette Wilson – St. Benedict’s Chapel: Providing meals to Lubbock’s homeless, working poor, and food-insecure populations.

Jaimie Wheeler – Open Door Ministries: Offering supportive housing for individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, and sex trafficking.

Lisa Gilliland – Meals on Wheels: Delivering nutritious meals to homebound, elderly, and disabled individuals.
Each panelist will share a 10–15 minute presentation on the communities they serve, the challenges they face, and how individuals and churches can be part of the solution. A Q&A session will follow, offering attendees the opportunity to engage with the speakers and learn more about ways to make a difference.
We invite you to be part of this important conversation as we seek to understand and respond to the needs in our community.

Join Us for EGGSTRAVAGANZA!
Get ready for an afternoon of family fun as Second Baptist Church hosts our annual EGGSTRAVAGANZA on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 3 PM!
Bring your little ones for an exciting Easter egg hunt, games, fellowship, and plenty of fun on the East lawn at Second Baptist Church.
To help make this event a success, we are accepting donations of Easter eggs and candy, drop them off in the box outside the church office.

We’re excited to announce 2b Leaders Summer Camp 2025, a unique, faith-based camp designed for children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade. This camp instills leadership skills, a heart for service, and plenty of fun along the way!

Lenten Lunch with
Annie Bray
On Thursday, April 3, at 12:00 PM, we continue our Lenten Lunch series with Annie Bray, Interim Pastor for Children and Families here at 2b. A Lubbock native, Annie studied Spanish at Texas Tech and spent 16 years teaching middle school. After volunteering in children’s ministry for five years, she stepped into her current pastoral role, where she brings energy, compassion, and a deep love for the 2b community. Annie is the proud mom of three kids, along with a sweet dog and a complicated cat. She will share a message of faith, joy, and connection as we continue our Lenten journey.
The lunch begins at 12:00 PM with worship and the speaker, followed by homemade soup and sandwiches from 12:30 to 1:00 PM.

Lenten Prayer Walk
Beginning Monday, March 10, a prayer walk will be available in the Grand Hall every Monday throughout Lent from 10 AM to 4 PM. It guides you through moments of reflection, scripture, and prayer as you journey toward Easter. Whether you stop by for a few minutes or take your time moving through the stations, all are welcome to engage in this practice of spiritual renewal.

Fellowship Dinner
Join us on Wednesday, April 2nd, at 5:15 PM for Fellowship Dinner!
We'll be serving a crispy beef taco bar with sides and dessert. Kids 12 and under eat free with options like corn dogs, chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, fries, veggies, and dessert.

Jesus Fund Offering
On Sunday, April 7, we will have a special offering for the Jesus Fund, a benevolence fund created years ago to meet urgent needs in our community.
Started by a gift from one of our 2b Saints, the Jesus Fund has helped cover everything from a hotel room for a homeless family to medical bills and eyeglasses for those in need.
Every gift to this fund helps us extend compassion when it’s needed most.
