Blessing of the Animals
Sunday, October 12 at 4:00 pm | North Lawn by the Grand Hall
The Blessing of the Animals is a special event to thank God for all creation, especially the joy our pets bring to our lives. From the smallest to the largest, every creature reflects the diversity, creativity, and beauty of God’s grace. Birds, snakes, gerbils, insects, fish, frogs, reptiles, cats, dogs, horses, and more are all welcome.
The service will be brief, with just a few spoken words, followed by an individual blessing for each of God’s creatures.
All of God’s creatures are welcome.

Wandering & Wondering
October 2, 2025 - Why Church Events Matter to Everyone
I love having a window seat on an airplane. To see the view as you are taking off or landing is amazing. Even when you have lived in a place for a long time, the view from a few thousand feet is different. You can see how neighborhoods and streets look. You can see cars and highways in a way that you can’t when you are on the road in your car. You can get an idea of how your community looks.
Church events are the same. When you move beyond the idea that one event is for a certain part of the church’s population or demographic, you loose sight of the whole picture, you cannot see the whole landscape and how every part makes a difference.
Over the next several weeks we have a lot of events that I hope you will participate in. On Ocotber 15 there is a concert from composer and artist Mark Hayes. It will be a beautiful night of music.
October 26 we will have a Blessing of the Dresses in both worship services. Over 1000 dresses, sewn by our folks will be sent to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and then taken to Mexico, parts of Texas, and Central America.
October 31 is our Trunk or Treat, a time when members of the community will be on our campus for candy and fun, but more importantly to feel welcomed and perhaps intrigued to visit us.
I hope for a lot of participation in this. Maybe you are not a typical Wednesday night attendee, or you think that a special blessing in worship is just a part of the service. Maybe you think the trunk or treat is just for kids. But all of this is what makes Second Baptist special.
So imagine what it might be like to view us from high above, seeing how it all comes together for the purpose of Church and Community. And ask yourself: how might I be involved?
I look forward to seeing you soon.

Serving Together at 2b
Volunteers make the life of 2b possible. Whether you like to welcome guests, teach children, support worship, or serve behind the scenes, there’s a place for you.
Get Involved: If you are interested in serving, or know someone who would make a valuable contribution, you can grab a volunteer form on the table inside the Worship Hall or visit secondb.org/volunteer. Completed forms may be returned to the church office. Questions can be directed to the church office or to Larry Landusky, Chair of Beloved Community, at 806-441-1048 or ljlandusky@gmail.com.
Your gifts matter. Your time matters. Together, we make 2b a welcoming and vibrant place of faith and community.
