Join us for Advent at Second B

This Advent, we join together under the theme "From Generation to Generation…" a reminder that God’s love and faithfulness weave through time, connecting our stories to those who came before and those yet to come. Like Mary, who proclaimed that God’s mercy is “from generation to generation,” we, too, are called to carry this good news forward. Each week invites us to see how God continues to work in and through us, shaping our world with hope, peace, joy, and love.

Announcing Our New Sunday Schedule

The VLT met this past Tuesday evening to determine the best path forward for our Sunday schedule. The survey results showed an overwhelming 94% in favor of moving to one worship service, leading to a unanimous VLT vote to honor the congregation’s desire.

After further discussion and input from each VLT member, the team voted unanimously to adopt the following schedule: Worship from 9:30 to 10:30 AM and Sunday Morning Classes from 10:45 to 11:45 AM, beginning November 2.

We are deeply grateful for your input and engagement throughout this process. My hope is that we will continue to participate fully in the life and activities of our church. This new rhythm provides an opportunity for exploration and creativity in all areas of our shared ministry.

God bless,

Jim Smith - Chair, Vision Leadership Team

2b Community Lunches

This week, Tim and Carrie joined 2b members for lunch at Primrose. It was a wonderful time of food, storytelling, laughter, and getting to know one another. As we move into the fall and winter, Carrie plans to make these lunches more a part of her schedule. And you can help! If you live in a community and would like to have Carrie, or Carrie and Tim, join you, please reach out to Quin Shelton in the church office at (806) 783-0202. Quin will be helping with arranging and scheduling these lunches.

Fall Wednesday Night Conversations

6:00–7:00 pm | Various Classrooms

Join us for a new season of Wednesday night conversations designed to help us grow in faith and community.

The Questions Jesus Asked

Led by Tim Witherow | Covenant Classroom 129 | Nov. 5, Nov. 12

As we read the Gospels, we discover that Jesus used questions to teach, challenge, and reveal truth, often drawing on Hebrew rhetorical and interpretive traditions. These questions were not simply for gathering information but were designed to engage listeners, prompt reflection, and guide them toward a deeper understanding of God, humanity, and the Kingdom of Heaven. Come join Tim Witherow as he takes a fresh look at The Questions Jesus Asked and how they are still worth wrestling with today.

Nov. 5 – Technology Usage and Your Child

Led by Dr. James Barnett and Dr. James Ward | Conference Center

Discuss current studies on technology’s effects, practical strategies for managing screen time, and how faith informs our digital lives.

Nov. 12 – Faith Formation at Home

Led by Amy McDonald, Rev. Carrie Veal, and Kristi & Michele Harvey-Clem | Conference Center

Discover ways to nurture faith at home through rituals, grace-filled moments, and open conversations about Scripture.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Second B but Were Afraid to Ask

Led by Stephanie Nash | Pyrexia Classroom 125 (Downstairs)

This conversation series welcomes both charter members and newcomers who want to know more about Second B’s history, theology, organization, and quirks.

Nov. 5: Meet the Skeletons in the Second B Closet

Nov. 12: How Do I Jump On This Train?

Holy Land Pilgrimage with Pastor Carrie

January 5–16, 2026 | Led by Rev. Charlie Johnson

Pilgrimages are a part of all the world’s major religions. They have been part of Christianity since the second century, when followers of Jesus longed to walk where he walked and experience the places where his life and ministry unfolded.

While the landscape has changed over the centuries, the desire to be in the Holy Land has not. This January 5–16, we have the opportunity to join Charlie Johnson on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

I am especially excited because I have never been, and it feels deeply meaningful that my first journey will be with my Second B family.

You can learn more about the trip by clicking the button below or contacting Charlie with any questions or for additional details.

I hope you will join me in January!

Peace,

Pastor Carrie
