Join OFC in this virtual workshop to learn about the process surrounding second-parent adoption for LGBTQ+ parents. Hear from and ask our experienced adoption attorneys who specialize in LGBTQ+ adoption and law your questions about the procedures involved in this process. In this workshop, we will be completing the paperwork together and you will have the opportunity to leave with this portion of the process complete.

Join OFC for this year’s Week of the Young Child event! We invite all San Francisco-based LGBTQ+ families to our office where we will be offering free family portraits with a professional LGBTQ+ affirming photographer! Come hang out with other queer families, snack, and leave ready to see your family photo in the upcoming weeks. We look forward to seeing you there!

Field Trip to Bay Area Discovery Museum
April 12th 10AM

We welcome LGBTQ+ parents and caregivers of children 0-5 years to our April 12th field trip to the Bay Area Discovery Museum!
The Bay Area Discovery Museum is a space for imaginations to run wild! Located at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge on 7.5 acres of National Park land in Sausalito, Bay Area Discovery Museum features exhibition spaces and daily programs for children 6 months of age to 8 years. Join OFC and other queer families as we explore the engaging exhibits that this museam has to offer! We will be meeting at 10AM and walking through the exhibits and activities together. We can't wait to see you there! Look for a more detailed email describing the plan closer to April 12th.

Meet our new Non-Bio/Non-Gestational Parent facilitator, Mahlia! |
|
Mahlia Joyce, MS, M.Ac., L.Ac., ADS, is our founding Non-Gestational Support Group facilitator and in-house Health and Wellness guru. Mahlia (she/her/ella) is a relatively recent transplant from Piscataway and Lumbi lands to the Bay Area. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Maryland and is currently pursuing licensure here in California. Before the healing arts called her, Mahlia dedicated over 15 years of her life to social justice/anti-oppression work and education and in fact, knows the power of reclaiming the birthright of wellness and tapping into our inner reservoir of wholeness, as a continuation of that work. Mahlia is grateful for her deep familial roots in Maryland that fostered her love for and connection with nature, as well as her adventurous and curious spirit. Seeing these as gifts into which she was born, Mahlia aims to continue this legacy by passing on the same gifts to her son. Though she can occasionally be found out and about around town at a cultural event, hiking or laughing with friends, her most precious times are spent at home with her loving and supportive wife and son. There, Mahlia can often be found playing with her son, cooking, baking, reading, finding ways to commune with nature, or dreaming about revolutionary change.

Help Us Adopt's May grant deadline is approaching |
Helpusadopt.org is a national 501(c)(3) financial grant program that helps couples/individuals (regardless of ethnicity, gender, marital status, race, religion, or sexual orientation) with the cost of their adoptions by awarding grants up to $20,000. We support domestic, international and foster care adoptions and do not charge our applicants to apply. Since 2007, we have awarded 692 adoption grants totaling over $6.6 million. Our next grant application deadline is May 4th. You can find more information on the application here:

Our Family Offers Free Therapy!
OFC is very excited to share that we are now sponsoring individual, couples and family therapy for a limited number of clients. The spots will be first come, first served. Therapy will be provided by the Liberation Institute. To get the process started please fill out this Google Form someone will reach out to you to assist with getting an appointment scheduled.
