Second Presbyterian Church
August 7, 2020
While we are not able to worship together in person, we are worshiping together virtually! Join us on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. for worship by clicking the tab above, or clicking on the "Sunday Live stream" button on the home page of our website, www.2ndpres.org.

Also - if you click the blue button above you will be able to download the worship order so you can follow along at home!
Following the Assurance of God's Love, we will pass the peace by texting one another. Choose a fellow church member, family member, friend, relative, or loved one, have their number ready to go, and send them a text that says, “May the peace of Christ be with you!"
This week we conclude our study on racism by asking the question, “Where Do We Go from Here?” We encourage you to look back over your post session reflection forms to prepare for our discussion. We’ll ask you to talk about what you’ve learned, what surprised you in a good way, what surprised you in a not so good way, and what kind of things we might be called to do together going forward to help achieve greater racial justice in our society. Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday at 6pm!
From the Service & Outreach Committee:

The West View Elementary School work day is scheduled for TOMORROW August 8, from 8:00-12:00. The rain date is on August 15 at the same time.

Due to Covid-19, we will not be able to work inside the building this year but will need lots of help to spruce up the outside. We will trim bushes, pull weeds and plant something pretty to welcome the families back to school.

Please sign up online via the button below or show up with your trimmers to help us on that date. Also please remember to drop off a few requested school supplies to the church office.

Thank you for your support!
We are in need of a few volunteers who are willing to be present on Sunday morning and run the laptop computer for our Worship Live Stream. Seth Reynolds has been doing this every Sunday since worship moved to online only, but he is heading back to school and would like a break.

If we get 2-3 volunteers we can rotate Sunday responsibilities. You do not need any special expertise, as we will train you for the job. A comfort level with technology and familiarity with computers is a big help, however!

If interested in helping out, email Pastor Tim ([email protected]).
The July - August Upper Rooms are now available! If you would like one, Sandra Butler has copies that she would like to hand deliver to you!

Please contact Sandra directly by phone (659-4416 or 584-4397)
or email [email protected]!
Children’s Books Showing Diversity

There are other titles in our library. All books are cleaned with alcohol for your safety.

A big thank you to Neal Peebles, Bill Ragsdale, and the Facility Committee for helping us obtain and install a new mailbox to make sure our mail reaches us securely!
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this time. They would also like to let folks know that Catherine requested any memorials be directed either to the Mission Fund of 2nd Presbyterian Church or to the Helen Ross McNabb Foundation.
Our blog is updated regularly during our hiatus from in-person activities. It may be a devotion, an interesting story, something uplifting, something silly, or anything else that we think might be helpful. You will continue to get an email alerting you whenever a new blog post is uploaded.
