Dear Arete Prep Families,

With a mix of sadness and excitement, I write to inform you that Ms. Jacobson is departing from Arete Prep at the end of this semester. She will be leaving to complete some intensive headmaster training over the second semester. I am grateful for her eight years of service to the Arete community. In her years here, Ms. Jacobson has been a foundational part of building Arete Prep, from her work in the classroom with our Life Science and Biology students to her work as a Dean, Mentor advisor, Assistant Headmaster and teacher coach. She served as interim Headmaster while I was on maternity leave, and proved her leadership with a steady hand and strong heart. Most recently Ms. Jacobson took on the role as Head of Middle School and launched the BRIDGES program which brought leadership opportunities to our 6 th , 7th and 8 th grade students.

We are excited to cheer Ms. Jacobson on to new heights and sincerely thank her for all the work she had done for Arete.

Please see the note below for Ms. Jacobson’s own farewell letter.

Ms. Jacobson will attend the Kneader’s parent mix and mingle tomorrow at 8:30 am and she will return on Monday, January 6 th from 8:30 – 9:30 am to say one final goodbye at the alumni panel event. Feel free to join us to give her your best wishes.

Sincerely,

Julia Gillingham
Headmaster, Arete Preparatory Academy

Julia Gillingham | Headmaster
Dear Arete Colleagues and Families,

Thank you for the last eight years. I am grateful for each family that has trusted me to be part of their child’s life through teaching, being a Dean, and an Assistant Headmaster. I am humbled by the faculty who allow me in their classrooms and who show vulnerability in our coaching meetings. In my time here I have seen a beautiful transition in our campus pride and school spirit. With that, I have also seen us retain those things which made us who we are- humility, speaking the truth, and striving toward the good.

For the last three years I have been working to become a Headmaster. With that goal in mind and while details are sorted, I will be doing some more intensive Headmaster training over the next few months. I plan to keep the Arete community updated on the status of my progress and share information when I can.

While I am excited for the new opportunities and challenges that await me, I am saddened and grieving the loss of such an important community in my daily life. Again, thank you so much for your kindness and support over the years and for your part in my journey thus far. I will continue to be on campus in my role as a parent as my son will continue at Archway Arete. If you are able, I hope to see you at either our alumni panel or Kneader’s mix and mingle for an in-person goodbye.

With Gratitude,
Corinne Jacobson,
Head of Middle School, Arete Preparatory Academy
