Jesus says, “I give you a new commandment: Love one another as I have loved you.” The Hebrew scriptures, however, gave us the commandment “to love one another” one thousand years before Jesus commanded us to do so. So, what is new about Jesus’ commandment “to love one another?” How do we love another as Christ has loved us?

If you are participating virtually, we will share together Holy Communion in our online interactive worship. Before the time of the service, you will want to prepare some bread - a slice, a small loaf, a tortilla, a rice cake - a wheat product is not necessary. Let it be something you alone, or your with others in your household, may break and share. Prepare a cup or cups of juice or your choice of wine-with or without alcohol.

Recognition of Our Graduates on June 13 |
Are you, or is someone in your family about to Graduate? We will be celebrating our RUCC Graduates on Sunday, June 13.

Youth Group Resumes In-Person Meetings This Sunday |
Beginning this Sunday, June 6, the RUCC Youth Group will resume meeting in person. (However, for those who are unable to meet with us in person, we will connect you with the group online during the meeting.)
We will be meeting each Sunday after the worship service, ending at 1 p.m. It is recommended that you bring a snack or lunch to eat at the beginning of the meeting.
Our leaders will be Pastor Jill and Andrea Morics, and we have lots of great activities planned. Come join the fun!
Youth Group is open to kids who will be entering 6th through 12th Grade in the coming school year. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
Mask and Social Distancing protocols will be followed.

We are grateful for the Mystery Artist who drew 150 plus pictures of members and friends of RUCC. The Mystery Artist is aware that there are some members and friends who have not had their portraits drawn. If you are one of those persons and you would like for the Mystery Artist to draw your picture, please let Pastor Jill know by June 13th . Please send a photo of yourself to [email protected]. Time to Clean Up the Community Garden - Saturday, June 6 |
Volunteers are needed for a clean up day at the Community Garden Saturday, June 5 from 9- noon. Also, consider adopting your own garden plot. i It’s a great way to ease back into being out of quarantine.
Pretty easy to socially distance outside and often folks are enjoying solitary splendor working alone. There is no charge for a garden plot, and gardens are open to church members and the community at large as well. For additional information feel free to contact Gretchen at 951-533-3606.

Reflection of the Week from the Racial Justice Team |
“The Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 killed hundreds of residents, burned more than 1,250 homes and erased years of Black success. The destruction of property is only one piece of the financial devastation that the massacre wrought. Much bigger is a sobering kind of inheritance: the incalculable and enduring loss of what could have been, and the generational wealth that might have shaped and secured the fortunes of Black children and grandchildren.
“For decades, what happened in Greenwood was willfully buried in history. Piecing together archival maps and photographs, with guidance from historians, The New York Times constructed a 3-D model of the Greenwood neighborhood as it was before the destruction. The Times also analyzed census data, city directories, newspaper articles, and survivor tapes and testimonies from that time to show the types of people who made up the neighborhood and contributed to its vibrancy.
“There is a pending lawsuit and ongoing discussions about how and whether to compensate the families of the Tulsa Massacre victims. No compensation has ever been paid under court order or by legislation. To this day, not one person has been prosecuted or punished for the devastation and ruin of the original Greenwood.”

June 4: Tour of gardens at 9 a.m. - Betty Richards and Linda Richards have graciously invited us to tour their gardens, which are landscaped with native and drought resistant plants. Betty and Linda were our guides through Caroline Park in April. They have asked that we limit the tour to those who are fully vaccinated. Now that we have returned to in person church services in the sanctuary, Please consider dedicating flowers for the Sunday services.
There are several possible ways to do that:

Contact me at [email protected] or (909) 798-4347 and I will arrange for the flowers. The cost is $60.00. You can drop the money or check in the collection plate, mail it to the church office, or pay on-line through Realm. Make the check to RUCC and put “flowers” in the memo line. If you pay on Realm, choose “flowers” as the fund. If you put money in an envelope, write a note designating it is for flowers.
- You may provide your own flowers from your garden or from another vendor. Just make sure you send me the dedication information and have the flowers there by 10:00 a.m. on the Sunday you choose. If you have questions do not hesitate to email or call me.
