Sunday, December 9th is the Second Sunday of Advent.  Many families find that lighting an Advent wreath at home is a meaningful faith practice to add to their Christmas family traditions.  Check here each week for a scripture message and prayer that you may use for lighting your family Advent wreath.

Scripture:  John 3:16  For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

Message:  This is the second Sunday in Advent.  Today we light two purple candles.  Last week, we lit the candle of hope.  This week, we light the candle of love.  One verse that many memorize and remember on this day is John 3:16.  "For God so loved the world...".Some people may not know the love of other people.  That makes it harder for them to understand God's love.  During Advent, we pray that we may remember God's gift of Jesus to the world and know that God's gift is for all people.

Prayer:  Dear God, Thank you for your son, Jesus.  Thank you for the words found in our bible that help us remember your love and care.  Help us see how we can bring God's message to the people we meet in our schools, at our jobs, and in our neighborhoods.  Help us be messengers of God's love for everyone.  Amen.

Angel Tree Returns
November 18-December 10

Our Angel Tree will re-appear in the East Entry beginning on Sunday, November 18th.  We are, once again, partnering with Minnesota Council of Churches Refugee Resettlement to provide Christmas gifts to children who have resettled in the Twin Cities in the past year.  When you check out your angel from the tree, it will have a child's name, gender, and age.  MCC recommends a gift for learning, a gift for warmth, and a gift for fun!
Kids' Choirs Rehearsal
Cherub Choir and Carol Choirs are well underway!  Our preparation time is short, so please make every effort to have your singers attend every practice.  Our One and Only  rehearsal for this service will be Sunday, December 23rd at 11:30 in the Sanctuary.  Snacks will be provided.  Our choirs will practice their songs and then immediately receive directions to be fitted for their costumes and choir robes.

Adults and children of all ages: come and worship in your favorite  superhero t-shirt, costume, or pajamas! Bring a photo with you of your personal " Superheroes of  Faith" - a parent, a spiritual mentor, a favorite teacher - and we'll share about them and thank God for all they've done to bless your sacred journey of  faith! There will be a special treat, too: hot cocoa and a double order of donuts on the house!
