A Message from our Pastor and Teacher
Sunday, March 8 ~: "Interview with the Mosaic Artist"    with Tom Medlicott
The day has arrived! We will dedicate the mosaic on Mosaic Building following the service. Pastor Jill will interview the artist, Tom Medlicott, during worship service. Why a mosaic? Why is the mosaic designed in the shape of a tree with streams of living water? How were the specific colors chosen? Does the mosaic offer a message to the church and those beyond its walls? What does the Psalmist mean when he declares, "Happy is the person who is planted by streams of water?" Come to worship and hear the artist speak about his creative journey in the production of RUCC's new stunning mosaic.

Following the Time of Reflection, please move to Mosaic Hall for the dedication of the mosaic.

Note: The children are invited  to the front of the church for the Children's Circle. During the circle, your child is welcome to join the  others or stay with you. After the chat, children in grades  K - 5  are invited to Sunday School located  next to the nursery. Those in grades  6-12  are invited to attend  Youth Sunday School in Mosaic Hall.

Reflection of the Week from the Racial Justice Team
"To each and every one of you, especially you young people ... Go out there, speak up, speak out. Get in the way. Get in good trouble. Necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America."

- Rep. John Lewis of Georgia at the 2020 "Bloody Sunday" commemorative march in Selma, Alabama

Environmental Justice:
On an individual level, sometimes it can be difficult to know how to make a change, and what to do to better impact the world. But setting new goals for 2020 could help change your habits and live  more sustainably where possible.

Make Do & Mend
In the US, the average lifetime for clothing is an estimated 2.2 years. Why not make a pledge to fix all your slightly worn clothes? You don't have to throw out your favorite holey shoes, take them to a cobbler, or see if your local dry-cleaners offers repairs or alterations for worn, damaged or ill-fitting clothes.

PARENTS! ALERT! Friday the 13th is your lucky day!  It's KIDS' NIGHT OUT!
Drop your kids off at Covenant Hall at 6 pm for dinner, games, and fun. You're free to do...whatever it is adults do. Also, no babysitter to pay or take home!

Pick them up by 9 so they don't turn into pumpkins. We guarantee to return them tired!

Chapman University Founders Day, Saturday, March 14
Chapman University will hold its 37th Annual Founders Day, March 14, 2020.  We are pleased to bring to campus the Rev. Dr. William Barber II. Barber, hailed by many to be this generation's Martin Luther King, Jr. Barber will be both the morning teacher and the afternoon preacher. Barber, relying on both scripture and the guarantees of the Constitution of the United States, will help us make the connections of head and heart about issues of poverty and systemic racism as well as other social justice issues that need Christian moral influence in our day. The afternoon worship will also feature Disciples on Campus students and the excellent Chapman University Singers.

Thank you!  Thank you!
This year's RUCC Rummage Sale was a huge success!  Thanks to all your generous donations and our church and community buyers we made $1780!  This money will go to the RUCC Campership Fund, Family Services, Steps 4 Life, and Angel's Closet.

All our hard-working volunteers had a fun time allowing others to recycle/reuse/repurpose treasures that will benefit our church and community.  We are already planning for next year!!!  See you then.
