Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea Urges Investment in Rhode Island’s Future
The Port of Davisville welcomed R.I. Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea (near left) yesterday, giving her an in-depth look at the Port's operations and the ways Question 7 would prepare the Port and R.I. for the 21st-century economy.

If approved, Question 7 would give Rhode Island the tools it needs to prepare for the growing offshore wind industry, expand existing port businesses that currently support nearly 1,700 jobs, and replicate the success of Quonset’s model for new companies across the State.

During her visit, Secretary Gorbea saw the completed east face of Pier 2 and ongoing construction on the south face. She also saw hundreds of automobiles delivered to the Port of Davisville from around the world waiting to be processed by North Atlantic Distribution, the port’s largest employer. Nearly 100 Rhode Island companies and service providers do business at the Port.

Gorbea urged Rhode Islanders to vote in the upcoming election next Tuesday and say "Yes" to Question 7.

The Propeller Club of Narragansett Bay
Urges R.I. to Vote "Yes" on Question 7
The R.I. Ports Coalition's campaign to approve Question 7 welcomed a key endorsement from The Propeller Club of Narragansett Bay this week.

"A vote to approve referendum Question 7 [...] will enable Quonset to provide additional jobs and revenue to the State of Rhode Island and support our maritime heritage," the Club said in a released statement. "The funds thus provide a substantial return on our collective investment, just as similar types of funding granted to the ports have provided in the past."

The Club, a chapter of the International Propeller Club of the United States, is an international business network that promotes the maritime industry, commerce, and global trade.
