’Tis the Season of Giving: Annual Appeal
Alumni and Friends of Alumni,
Your support matters. Without you, our kids don’t have St. Bernard’s.
This year marks the beginning of a new tradition — one that should have been in place already — an annual appeal.
Your generosity helps single parents afford St. Bernard’s. Your gifts help pay great teachers who make a difference each day for our students. Your kindness keeps SB on the cutting edge of scientific inquiry. Your sacrifice helps open doors of opportunity — any career path is possible.
Think back to a teacher, a coach, maybe a Sister of St. Joseph who made a difference for you. Bob Robertson stands out for me. He was a young father of two, but he coached multiple sports, taught a full load of classes, and made SB his home. His boys grew up in the gym because Coach Robbie was there coaching other folks children night after night. As a father of two, I understand what its like to have your kids grow up in these hallways. The family feel is real. The welcome is authentic.
We had a freshman transfer student start at St. Bernard's the week before Thanksgiving. I saw seven different students take her under their wings during her first week. Her smile grew each day. In no time at all, she was home. It’s a lot easier to learn and grow when you feel like you are surrounded by family.
You can send a check directly to the school (in the name of someone who made a difference for you if you like). You can click on the link below and make a donation online. All gifts are tax deductible.
I will be sending out an appeal letter and return envelope as well.
Tuition for one high school student is $6400.
Tuition for one junior high students is $5400.
The real cost of educating our kids is a lot closer to $12,000. Justin Siena and Cardinal Newman (our nearest private school peers) charge around $17,000 a year. Our local economy won’t allow that type of price tag.
We need your help to keep doing great work.
Thank you,
Paul Shanahan
