CALL FOR PRESENTERS!
ALIGN is calling for workshop presentations for the 2022 Strengthening Today; Building Tomorrow Conference. 
 
This 1-day learning event takes place every January in Edmonton, Alberta, and is designed for human services employees and includes presentations for senior leaders, board members, supervisors, and front-line workers. Approximately 250 people attend the conference each year.

The ongoing success of this conference is a result of ensuring we have knowledgeable presenters who are passionate in their areas of expertise. If you have a topic you think our participants would like to learn more about, please complete our online application.
WORKPLACE WELLBEING
ACHIEVE -Psychological Safety in the Workplace Virtual September 8, 9am-4pm CDT This workshop provides an overview of the characteristics of a psychologically safe workplace and the roles of both the employee and employer in promoting psychological safety.

These free summer and fall workshops offer one-hour sessions designed to build skills in five different areas to help individuals cope with stress and adversity, while promoting positive mental health and well-being. The sessions are free and will run weekly starting July 20 and again Sept. 8. Participants can take any or all of the classes.

CIO -20 tips for supporting team mental health The mental health of each team member is vital to your organization’s performance. Leaders at every level must intentionally and continually commit to finding ways to improve the mental health of their teams. Mental health is a critical component of every employee’s wellbeing and should be a top priority in all workplaces.

PHAC, NCCIH and NCCID are asking First Nations, Inuit and Métis people to tell them how the pandemic has affected their ability to access health services you need during the pandemic, specifically sexually transmitted and blood borne infections (STBBI) and harm reduction services. To better understand your experience, they are also asking about how the pandemic has affected your safety (family violence, racism, discrimination), social and economic situation (food, housing, finances) and mental health and wellness.

CHILD & YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH
Looking Forward is an interactive half-day workshop created for individuals working with youth aged 12 to 24. Looking Forward encompasses the developmental, cognitive, and emotional differences found within this age group in presenting strategies to strengthen the protective factors of youth at risk of suicide. Relevant intervention strategies are explored through videos and case studies. This workshop is being offered with support from the Calgary Foundation. Intervention approaches build on the skills taught in the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) as they apply to youth and can be offered virtual or on-site.

The Indigenous Long-Term Participant Development Pathway is a reference for those who work with Indigenous participants in sport and recreation. It has grown out of the understanding that mainstream models for sport development do not necessarily align with Indigenous needs or experiences. As such, this document tries to address that gap by outlining the key elements that need to be considered when planning, developing, and implementing programs for and with Indigenous peoples and communities.
