Census Forms Start Printing Without A Citizenship Question
On Thursday, June 27, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a 5-4 rejection of the Trump Administration's rationale to include a question asking about citizenship on the 2020 Census. The Court left in place a lower court's ruling to block the question for now.

After the ruling, the printing of census questionnaires without a citizenship question started.

However, at a separate lower court hearing on Friday, July 5, the Trump Administration indicated that they are investigating other legal avenues to getting a question on citizenship on the census.

MNN was pleased with the Supreme Court ruling and will continue to follow this issue. Public education on the importance of the 2020 Census in traditionally hard-to-count communities will be needed. Nonprofits are trusted messengers and are in unique positions to promote participation. Resources for nonprofits can be found here .
Survey On Nonprofit Transportation Tax
Last month, the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee approved legislation,  H.R. 3300 , that would repeal the 21 percent  tax on nonprofit transportation benefits , such as parking and transit passes. Nonprofits affected by this tax can take a  quick survey  to provide helpful information that will be used to demonstrate impact on the sector as conversations on the Hill continue.

How to Prepare for Having Your 990 Prepared
by Jeremy Cork, Jitasa

Whether you prepare your own Form 990 or outsource it, you can make the process less painful by following some simple steps and gathering certain information well-before prep begins. Some of these steps can only be done after your fiscal year ends. However, by understanding each step and being proactive, your 990-filing experience can come and go with ease. This list is not all-inclusive as each organization is different, but many of these steps are common for all organizations.
Are you making decisions based upon incomplete, outdated or inaccurate information? Do you know if you are? Many nonprofit organizations don’t have the resources to employ high level accounting and finance professionals. As a result, management of these organizations find themselves, knowingly or unknowingly, making decisions based on inaccurate financial information. This webinar will teach key metrics that any organization can track, as well as what those metrics tell you about the financial health of your organization. This webinar is hosted by MNN and is presented by  Kevin P. Martin & Associates Register here .
This webinar will cover using cloud systems as a file server replacement, easily meet compliance requirements, and provide staff the tools they need so they don’t have to use “Shadow IT.” Attendees will learn how Dropbox can meet these needs, basic management of the platform, and learn about enhanced features to improve workflows.
