Argentina: IDDSI will be present at the next meeting of the Argentina Dysphagia Association (AAD) being held 8-10 october in Salta, AR. The Argentina IRG has planned an IDDSI Challenge session focused on problem-solving and discussion. The Argentina IRG will also be presenting its newly written IDDSI Implementation Guide written in Spanish.

Brazil: The Brazilian Dysphagia Congress will take place from September 17 to 19 in São Paulo. IDDSI will participate in two hands-on sessions: "IDDSI in Pediatrics" and "IDDSI Implementation in Services." These workshops will be conducted by the Brazil Leadership Team.
IDDSI will also support the speakers at the FEES and Swallowing Ultrasound workshops by providing food samples adapted for testing. The congress is organized by the Brazilian Academy of Dysphagia and expects the participation of 500 specialists from across the country. Congratulations!

Germany: Parlamentarisches Frühstück im Reichstag

At the presentation of the white paper “Better Nutrition. Better Care.” in the German Parliament, Manuela Ihrke represented IDDSI Germany and introduced the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) to policymakers and key stakeholders from healthcare, nutrition, research, and long-term care. The event highlighted the importance of nutrition as a fundamental component of health and care policy. Together with other experts, Manuela advocated for the nationwide, mandatory implementation of IDDSI standards in Germany to improve the safety and quality of care for people with dysphagia. The discussion reinforced the growing recognition that standardized texture-modified diets are essential for reducing risks, improving nutritional outcomes, and supporting quality of life across care settings.

Italy: The second IDDSI Italy Congress will be held in Padua on the 9th October 2026. There are more than 450 participants and the congress is free! Included in the program will be presentations by Switzerland (Italian speaking) and Austria (English speaking). Check out the program in Italian below.
