The Parking Permit Application is now working again!
The 26/27 Student Parking Application will open June 29. Applications will be processed and invoiced after July 1. You will receive an email of confirmation and payment instructions.
Student parking lots (indicated here) are first come, first serve. To park on campus during school hours a parking permit must be obtained. Parking on the TVHS campus is a privilege and limited to available parking spaces. A parking permit is not guaranteed for all students and will be limited to one per family (if we have additional permits we will sell them to additional studnets in the same household). A student must be a fully licensed driver to obtain a parking permit.
To apply for a TVHS Parking Permit a parent (using a parent email address) MUST, complete this TVHS Parking Permit Application, upload all required documents and submit. Completion of an application is not a guarantee of a parking permit. If a parking permit is awarded, you will be notified via email with instructions to pay the fee in My School Bucks (MSB). A unique parking permit tag will be provided which must hang on the rearview mirror, visible while parked on campus.
The parking permit fee is $75.00. Replacement Permit Fee is $5. Parking permit fees are non-refundable.
Note: Online school registration must be completed and accepted before a student's parking application will be processed.
We, like all high schools who have full enrollment, do not have enough parking permits for every student to drive their own car to campus. We do offer bus transportation and there is off campus parking available (watch for the signs!). We do not own the strip of land in front of campus or along the baseball and softball fields. This is an easement that belongs to Pima County. Pima County posts the parking/no parking signs, NOT TANQUE VERDE. This spring, Pima County started to ticket cars that were parked in no parking zones. We have seen them continue this practice this summer. We are working on creating an additional lot for student parking that will also be available for guests for fine arts and athletic events. In the meantime, anyone who drives a car needs to follow all posted signs and traffic laws. It is not the responsibility of Tanque Verde High School to make sure students are aware of street laws and posted signs.
We had over 30 additional parking permits available this year that students/families chose not to purchase and instead opted for free off campus parking. We cannot investigate or help with car accidents, fender benders or other similar issues when students park off campus, but we can investigate and help when it is on campus.
Additionally, the lip on the dirt area along the stretch of baseball/softball fields is significant and we have seen student cars spin and lose control when they "gun it" to leave campus. While we know that parking over there allows students to avoid waiting to exit the parking lot, we have seen more accidents and safety issues in that area than we see in student parking lots.
