StandWithUs Northwest is pleased to join in an interfaith partnership with Pursuit NW, a church with three local campuses, and the new grassroots group Oregon For Israel to bring Mosab Hassan Yousef to Seattle, WA and Snohomish, WA for two speaking events.
Mosab is the son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef. After years of serving in Hamas, Mosab realized the movement’s brutality and decided to become an Israeli informant, which he did from 1997 to 2007. The information he provided prevented dozens of Hamas suicide attacks and exposed numerous Hamas cells. He now strongly denounces Hamas, saying “this is my message as an ex-Hamas member, as a son of one of Hamas’s founders: enough of this. If we don’t stop them now, the next war is going to be deadlier.”
Everyone is invited to join us for a rally in support of Israel on the University of Washington campus on Sunday, November 5 at 4:30PM. We will meet at the War Memorial Flagpole (CLICK HERE FOR MAP) on campus. Parking is free on the UW campus on Sundays. Bring Israeli and U.S. flags. Signs will be available.
The rally will run from 4:30–5:00PM. After that, we will march together up Memorial Way to 17th Avenue NE, proceeding two city blocks to the campus of Pursuit NW Church at 4740 17th Ave NE. There will be police protection and private security to ensure a peaceful event. There will also be a robust security presence for the event at the church. Those who participate in the rally will be seated first; others are encouraged to arrive early.
The service will start at approximately 6:00PM with music played by the church band. Out of sensitivity to the members of the audience who do not wish to participate in the church service but still want to attend, the music will focus on themes common to both Jewish and Christian traditions.
There will be two areas for seating, and guests are welcome to sit in either one. The main sanctuary provides a fully immersive church experience. For those who prefer, seating will also be set up in a separate room with a large screen showing the events in the sanctuary.
After the music concludes, Pastor Russell Johnson, Senior Pastor of Pursuit NW Church, will welcome the Jewish members of the audience and speak for about 20 minutes. Following him, Mosab will go on stage and tell his story, which includes his conversion to Christianity. Signed copies of Mosab’s books will be available for purchase.
A similar event takes place on Monday, November 6 at 6:00PM at Pursuit NW Church, 265 Pine Ave, Snohomish, WA. Mosab’s 2014 movie The Green Prince will be shown, followed by a Q&A in a less formal environment. The Monday evening event will NOT be livestreamed.
