Thank you to New York Chapter Co-Chair Paul Stipkovich for the festive holiday image!
This time of year, as we gather with friends and family to celebrate the holidays, we're wishing you and yours peace and joy in the year ahead.

While the fight to save America's Flagship continues , we are buoyed by the knowledge that the SS United States has a wide network of friends and supporters across the globe , all passionate about saving the Big U and preserving the legacy of America's greatest and sole remaining ocean liner.

Musician Dan Landau's powerful song about the SS  United States  reminds us that the ship "still speaks to all who dream, and to every journey yet to be." Thank you, once again, for helping us achieve our dream of restoring and revitalizing America's Flagship.

Help Us Save America's Flagship!
"Moonlight on the North Atlantic" by Theodore C. Ewen.
We're always looking for ways to give back to our supporters, who give so generously to ensure that we can continue our vital work to save America's Flagship. That's why we are excited to announce that donors at the SS United States Benefactor level and above will now receive a limited-edition print of artist Theodore C. Ewen's remarkable "Moonlight on the North Atlantic" painting.

This gorgeous depiction of the Big U was generously donated by Ewen's daughters, Stephanie and Deborah Ewen. SS United States designer William Francis Gibbs deeply admired Ewen, a renowned maritime artist and Gibbs & Cox employee. Gibbs selected "Moonlight on the North Atlantic" for his 1954 Christmas card. "My sister and I grew up hearing wonderful stories related to our father's work at Gibbs & Cox," Stephanie Ewen said.
Theodore C. Ewen was a Pratt Institute graduate, a World War II Naval Officer and a lifelong sailor, artist, yacht builder and marine designer. His paintings graced the covers of Rudder, Motor Boating and Yachting Magazines. He worked with designers and yacht yards including Consolidated Yacht Yard in City Island, NY and with Luders Yacht Yard in Stamford, CT. In the 1950’s and 1960’s Ewen worked for Gibbs & Cox, first as a design consultant and subsequently as a key design department employee.

The Conservancy is profoundly grateful to Stephanie and Deborah Ewen for sharing their father's incredible work and supporting our efforts to save the SS United States !

“We must save the SS United States . Thanks to the Conservancy, a crown jewel that can be found nowhere else on earth still remains afloat.” — Chris Harwell, Tampa, FL
It's been a big year for the Big U — with extraordinary additions to the Conservancy's permanent curatorial collections ; ongoing confidential talks with potential developers about activating the ship's commercial potential; coverage of the ship in the New York Times and other news outlets; and exciting new partnerships , helping to raise awareness of America's Flagship.
