Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 maintains a robust lending library in
Instructional Media Services
(IMS) that is an added value for member school districts. Available resources in the lending library include Breakout EDU kits, flip video cameras, iPads, GPS units, green screen kits, manipulatives for makerspace integration, and more.
The most recent arrival in the IMS library are four Breakout EDU kits. A Breakout EDU kit allows for the facilitation of games where players use teamwork and critical thinking to solve a series of challenging puzzles in order to open the locked box. The CIU 20 Professional Learning Department provides professional development sessions for educators to experience a Breakout EDU game, including how to facilitate a game in their own school, either with staff or students.
Educators can also receive professional development on how to use any of the tools in the lending library, as well as lesson planning resources to ensure purposeful integration into classroom instruction. CIU 20 staff continuously reviews the resources available in the IMS lending library to ensure alignment to school district needs and initiatives.
