Carver College & Career Academy prides itself in redefining what it means to be an alternative school. With incorporated mentor programs, partnerships with Juvenile Justice, G.W. Carver is making strides to ensure every student has a plan for their future after high school, regardless of the path that led them there. With over 150 students enrolled, G.W. A Rhode Island Alternative Education Teacher is awarded District Teacher of the Year

Chariho School District, in District 2's state Rhode Island, is named Teacher of the Year! Danielle Bruneau, Chariho Alternative Learning Academy's Special Education teacher for the school, is a passionate alternative educator whose dedication was recognized at the district level.

Welcome Crystal Hosselton, new Region 5 Director!

Crystal Hosselton is the Director of Mary Logan High School (MLHS) located on the beautiful campus of John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois. Crystal has been the program director for 12 years and served as the program counselor prior to becoming director. MLHS has been offering optional education and supplementary services to 11 high school districts, across four counties, for over 40 years. Mary Logan HS is one of three community college programs in the state offering optional education programming to their high school communities. Crystal has actively served on the IL state association board, Illinois Coalition for Educating At-Risk Youth (ICEARY), for over ten years in the capacities of Regional Representative, President-Elect, President, and her current role as Immediate Past President. The NAEA welcomes Crystal and her wealth of knowledge to continue to advance the scope of alternative education!
