NOTES FROM LORI
Welcome to the 4th quarter of 2020! To me, it seems like the longest year in history. We have zoomed, masked, pivoted and struggled to get to this point and it seems the end is not in sight. We are learning to adjust to the challenges and moving forward together. I am just happy we are moving! This month we are getting back to Park CONNECT Networking, which was always one of our most popular events. We are networking via ZOOM and encourage everyone to register for an event this month. Remember when we started the year with an enthusiastic, “Just Show UP” theme? You can still show up without ever leaving the house. I hope to see you either this morning or at Slice of Woodbury on October 20, where last month we had good attendance and pizza winners!
The OC corporate team has been working for the past couple of months on an exciting project. It seemed like the perfect time to take on a new challenge and it gave us the opportunity to focus on something positive. Today we are thrilled to announce the launch of our NEW & IMPROVED OffiCenters Website! I hope you take a few minutes to check it out. Do you recognize some of the faces, spaces and events? This is all about our community and working together. With that said, I am so proud of the work my team has done and feel it necessary to give a shout-out to OC Member, SKOL Marketing for their direction and partnership on this project. We always look to buy from our community first and believe in supporting locally owned, locally operated businesses. It makes all of us stronger as local businesses are the backbone of our economy and lead the community in positive change and economic growth.
As we head into the last quarter, know there is still time to make this a productive year. Use your skills and knowledge to create BETTER things for your business. We have more and more people coming into the workspace and we have received a tremendous number of referrals and new space inquiries. I’ve included part of an article from our industry that predicts shared workspaces and coworking are the key for workspace success going forward. We are a part of a national trend that continues to benefit business with flexibility and affordable options.
Thanks for working through all of the years’ challenges with us and for your continued patience and support. I have spent many sleepless nights tossing new ideas around in my head and trying to stay positive about our future. Saying you are on my mind constantly is an understatement. Don’t be isolated, it’s bad for your personal and business health. Keep physical, but NOT social, distancing. Stay in touch and I hope to see you at a networking event this month!

Why is the 4Q of every year the most important quarter for every business? Because it's the quarter when businesses make YEAR END decisions. A good decision can be made when a business has a 4Q Financial Plan that does 2 things:
1. Brings financial records as up to date as possible
2. Provides the year’s Profit Projection for tax liability.
Paul Kloster is here to help with you with your 4th Quarter Financial Plan. Paul can help you bring records up-to-date, and work with you to prepare the Profit Projection necessary for determining tax liability. He will work with you over ZOOM and identify the work that needs to be done. Paul will stay in contact with you and help as needed to complete the 4Q work. Your 4th Quarter Financial Plan will deliver the information for you to make good year end business decisions. ESSENSYS, a global leader in software-controlled technology and services, recently shared the blog below on workspace trends since COVID-19 and how flexible workspace providers will serve a variety of needs for a diverse range of occupiers.
Driving the Future of Work
The coronavirus pandemic prompted what has been referred to as one of the “largest work from home experiments.” Although many employees have adjusted to working from home, the requirement for office spaces won’t disappear. As offices re-open and adjust to a new normal, pre-COVID trends will accelerate. Flexibility in the office environment will continue to be a key consideration for companies as they look to accommodate the varying needs of their employees. It is critical for space providers to operate a model that can meet the flexibility and agility needs of companies of all sizes. MORE

#SHARETHEMICMN campaign, founded by OC member Jasmine Stringer, strives to make Minnesota a more inclusive and equitable state through storytelling, exposure and relationship development. Their desire is that the #SHARETHEMICMN campaign will give Brown/Black women in Minnesota additional exposure by allowing them to connect and engage with new audiences beyond their “mic share.” They believe the newly developed relationships will lead to new understanding and insights that will be impactful in tackling and overcoming unconscious biases, racial injustices and racial inequities.
#SHARETHEMICN launched on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 and have paired Black/Brown women with allies (men and women) that have agreed to “share their mic,” (their Twitter or Instagram account) for the day. They will continue the “mic shares” bi-monthly on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month through the end of the year.
