Issue 39 | December 9, 2020
Lea Filson, Executive Director, See Plymouth
Well, there is no use sugar-coating it. The pandemic is heading in the wrong direction and there is a good chance after the holidays, we are all going to be hunkering down again. That means further economic loss, additional debt, and a lot of sick people until the vaccinations can be distributed. I am so sorry for all of us...

I’ve noticed more decorations than usual this holiday season and I cannot help thinking it is because everyone wants to see something normal and happy instead of the constant news about the pandemic.

If we can just hold on, keep supporting one another, and come to each other’s aid for another six months or so, we may be seeing blue skies ahead. The day will come that we can all gather, laugh, hug, and do those normal human things we are only remembering right now.
If you are out and about on Thursday or Friday this week (December 10 and 11) plan to stop by See Plymouth at 4 North Street between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. To celebrate our new location and to promote the Chamber’s Holiday Stroll (Thursday through Sunday) we will spend Thursday and Friday handing out hot cider and cookies to those who pass by our location at the corner of North and Court Streets in Plymouth. We’ll even hand you a cider inside your car if you signal us when you go by. There is a giant Santa in our window that is perfect for photos so try to come see us.

On Saturday, walk through the old Santander Bank building through the See Plymouth lobby (wearing a mask and social distancing) and you can vote for your favorite gingerbread house and pick out a beautiful wreath for your house. It’s to benefit the Celebrate Greater Plymouth nonprofit. They will even have carolers in Victorian dress. That would be a great way to take a break while you are shopping local.

All of us at See Plymouth are here for you. In that light, and to better serve you, we are delighted to welcome two new staff members: Monica Querzoli, Director of Membership and Brian Logan, Social Media Manager. Monica and Brian have extensive industry experience, and we are lucky to have them aboard. We have worked diligently throughout the pandemic to keep our destination top of mind, and now as our team strengthens, we will continue these efforts as we recover. Hopefully, next season will be the beginning of a bright recovery for all of us.
