Issue 45 | March 12, 2021
Lea Filson, President/CEO, See Plymouth
Please take the time to read today’s update. Lots to catch up on now that we will soon once again live a life beyond COVID…

Our See Plymouth marketing team is putting the finishing touches on our advertising between April and September. Many hours of planning have gone into this to make sure we invite the people who will most likely visit the town and county of Plymouth. First, we examine data and metrics from several sources to determine our audience. We then comb through all the possible places we can advertise and figure the right balance between digital, broadcast, and print. Then the negotiations begin! We get the best possible prices so our ad dollars will go further.

Whether you join in with a coop ad about your business or not, we continue to support our destination with beautiful reminders to visit Plymouth. 2020 and 2021 have required no matching funds for our MOTT grant, (thank you state legislators!) so we have not encouraged coop advertising purchases from you. We know everyone is just getting back to business. That said, this year, we will give you the opportunity to share in our ads for a fraction of what you would normally pay, so when you get those notices, either take advantage or not. We will still be doing our job increasing visitation, and we will still be supporting you through our publications, our app, trade shows, and the list goes on...
Advertising Kit
Take a look at this year’s Advertising Kit to see the great prices we are offering on enhanced listings, ads, signage in our MA Visitor Center, and more in our own See Plymouth publications. The discounts this year are the best ever offered.
Find the Advertising Kit and Contract on Membership Page on our website.
See Plymouth App
Also download our new See Plymouth App. I just got my first data report on the app and already we are experiencing high numbers of downloads. That is good news for our upcoming tourism season.
Membership
If you are contemplating membership but have taken no action, renew or join soon. While you can join anytime during the year, as of March 15, 2021, we will be taking down all non-renewing members from our website and across our platforms. Don’t be the business owner who notices next May that you are no longer on our website and in our updated materials. There has never been a more important time to promote your business to our visitors.
Expedia
Good news for our hotels who have been impacted tragically by the pandemic. We have signed on to advertise for four months with our own landing page on Expedia’s platform. We are also adding Expedia’s platform to our See Plymouth website.

Only our members will be listed on our Expedia landing page as well as on our site. We know from surveys that three out of four internet travel shoppers who go to a destination site will book their trip if the opportunity is there. We will use Expedia as a pilot program to see how many of our hotels receive reservations through See Plymouth.

At the end of this season based on the success of the platform, we will continue with Expedia or begin researching our own booking engine. With over a million people a year looking at SeePlymouth.com, it is time to offer a seamless way to plan a trip, reserve a room, and experience a truly unique New England vacation. We are here to support our hotels and will do what we can to increase reservations.

Getting Tourism Back on Track
The new MA Legislature Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development has been assigned. We look forward to working with Senators Edward Kennedy (Chair), John Cronin (Vice Chair), Susan Moran, Walter Timilty, John Velis, and Ryan Fattman (Ranking Minority).

On the House side, we are lucky to welcome Representatives Darole Fiola (Chair), Dylan Fernandes (Vice Chair), Tricia Farley-Bouvier, Mary Keefe, Natalie Blais, Tommy Vitolo, Smitty Pignatelli, Jon Rogers, Kip Diggs, David Vieira, and Mathew Muratore (Ranking Minority).

It will take some effort to get tourism back on track after the pandemic, and I am confident this group will offer support and guidance while pushing through important tourism legislation for all the RTC’s and MOTT.
