MEET NALA

This sweet girl came to us in May 2023, and while her body was still recovering from having multiple litters of puppies, we knew she had a bright spirit.

Nala loves joining our daily playgroups, making friends with other dogs and is a staff and volunteer favorite. Belly rubs? She’ll never say no! Her absolute favorite thing is carrying around a stuffed animal while she plays and snorts happily. She adores both kids and adults and keeps her kennel spotless, never having accidents.

Are you ready to give Nala the love she deserves? Please visit the shelter during visiting hours. Learn more about NALA

Strike

PUPDATE

Remember Strike? In our last FCCAS eNewsletter, we shared how he was struggling with an intense fear of being confined to a kennel. Thanks to FCCAS-funded training, he worked hard to overcome that fear

We are beyond excited to share that Strike has found his perfect forever home with one of our very own CCAS volunteers, Mary R. We couldn’t be happier for him and Mary—it’s a heartwarming happy ending!

SUPPORT CCAS

Our focus this quarter is on improvements that FCCAS made in 2020 to the medical facilities at the shelter. CCAS medical staff recognized that year that the hydraulic table used during surgery was on its last legs. Moreover, they had been using warmed socks and other home remedies to maintain proper body temperature for dogs during and after their operations. To give the dogs better, more professional care, the shelter requested that FCCAS fund the purchase of a new hydraulic surgery table with a bonus: a heating unit installed underneath, so that the dogs’ body temperatures could be kept at a safe and stable level. Read FULL ARTICLE

SEASONAL TIPS

Timber FCCAS

🐾 School Supply Dangers Fall kicks off back to school time, and some standard school supplies can easily double as an exciting chewy toy for your pup. Erasers, pencils, crayons, and glue can all lead to a trip to the vet office. Keep school supplies off the floor and secured from your pets.

🐾 Avoid Mushrooms Warm sunshine and wet weather make fall prime time for mushrooms. Curious pets munch on the new arrivals in their backyard and can be easily poisoned. As a practice check your yard and remove all mushrooms daily before letting your pet outside.

🐾 Put Away Halloween Candy Halloween candy is full of toxic goodies for our pets. Chocolate and Xylitol (sugar replacement in sugar free items) are both highly toxic. Put away candy as it comes home.

🐾 Fleas, Ticks, and Heartworm, Oh My! While summer may be over, parasites don't go away as easily. Leaf piles are perfect places for fleas, ticks, and mosquitos to hide and no fun for your pet. Be sure to keep that preventative going during fall months!
