2020 Oregon Logging Conference (OLC) President Greg Stratton has announced that Dr. Patrick Moore will be the keynote speaker at the 82
nd
Annual gathering in Eugene in February.
“I have always wanted to understand the ‘other side’ and Patrick has been on the other side,” Stratton said. “He is knowledgeable in the facts and real science of our environment,” Stratton continued, “unlike much of the current ‘best available’ information which is more often than not, politically or agenda driven.”
According to his biography, Dr. Patrick Moore is an informed and provocative speaker who inspires new ways of thinking about environmental challenges. His views are refreshing, informative, and relevant. He is focused on the promotion of sustainability and consensus building among competing concerns. He calls for issues to be discussed on the basis of accurate scientific data, and the creation of sustainable solutions.
Dr. Patrick Moore is a founding member, former president, and international director for Greenpeace.
OLC President Stratton said, “While Mr. Moore may not always tell you what you want to hear, I have found him to be honest and truthful. I believe politics are based on opinions and agendas,” Stratton continued, “but science should be proven and validated with facts.”
Stratton believes that management of the environment should be based on what’s best for the landscape and long-term viability, not short-sighted agendas that destroy entire communities. “I believe Patrick Moore shares this same belief.” Stratton said.
Keynote speakers Dr. Patrick Moore will talk during the OLC opening session breakfast on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the Wheeler Pavilion at the Lane Events Center and Fairgrounds in Eugene, OR.
