Message from Camden City School Superintendent About the Reopening Plan
I am writing to update you on the Camden City School District’s reopening plan for September. Over the past few months, our District Reopening Task Force has considered several learning models including remote and hybrid options. The task force has also examined cleaning, testing, and procedure changes that align with best practices from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state and local health authorities. With our most important priority being the health and safety of our students and staff, the planning process is ongoing.
Thank you to our families, staff and community members for participating in our survey. The feedback you provided has helped inform the District Task Force’s reopening plans which is aligned to the guidance from the CDC & the “The Road Back,” NJ Department of Education’s guidelines released on June 26, 2020.
As we move closer to the first day of school on September 3, we welcome continued feedback that will help us deliver on our promise to provide a safe and high quality-learning environment for all Camden students and staff. To this end, we will share the district’s proposed reopening plan at our virtual board meeting on July 28, 2020.
Not a day goes by where I am not grateful for the ongoing support and dedication shown by everyone during these unprecedented times. Thank you all for your commitment to our students, the district, and the community at-large.
Katrina T. McCombs, M.A.Ed., MPA, State District Superintendent

STORYTELLING Session Two Today!
You can’t miss  Tall Tales with Kyle J  – Everyone’s favorite storyteller, Kyle Jakubowski will weave his delightful word magic and captivate pre-school aged children through interactive storytelling. This year you can tune in virtually, making it even easier to join in on the fun! We will be live streaming on Thursdays at 10:30 am via our partnership with the Camden County Library - Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez Downtown Branch.
THREE STORIES, ZERO BOOKS?!  Each 30 minute weekly session includes three stories, which the children help to tell through call-and-response, creative movement, and other ways that provide engaged learning and encourage a love of words and an interest in reading. Though the stories are inspired by some of our favorite children's books, Kyle uses only voice, movement, props, and imagination to make the stories come to life. We will send a "prop list" of household items each week that you can use to follow along!
How to Tune In Live
We will be live streaming via the Camden County Library Facebook page.
Thursday, July 23 Stories & Prop Lists
Kyle J will be interpreting the stories below during our second session. All you need to join in is your imagination, but if you want to enhance the experience, gather the following items to help act them out:
1) Gregory, The Terrible Eater
2) Giraffes Can't Dance
