Summer is here, and with its warmth also comes our first in-person events in over a year. Joy does not begin to explain how we are feeling about this milestone during what feels like a never-ending pandemic. Not only is it a pleasure to finally be able to log off Zoom, but more importantly, we are very excited to connect with you, our members, face-to-face again.
Our first in-person event will be our Women's Network Luncheon, held on June 9th at the Augusta Civic Center. At this event, we will have Vanessa Erikson and Taylor Eddy, AAA travel agents, who will be helping us to navigate traveling in a post-COVID world.
Our next in-person event is the Cynergy and Emerging Leaders blood drive with the American Red Cross on Monday, June 21st, 2021, from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Augusta Elks Club, located at 397 Civic Center Drive, Augusta. We highly suggest signing up for this event if you can donate blood.
Wrapping up our in-person monthly programs is Business After Hours at Augusta Colonial Theater. Join us for Delicious hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and networking beside the Kennebec River in beautiful downtown Augusta. This is sure to be a fun event and an excellent way to connect as a business community.
Finally, our month finishes out with the 4th Annual Kennebec River Brewfest cooler bag pickup event, from June 29th-July 2nd. There are still cooler bags available, so be sure to purchase yours now if you want in on the fun!
Whether you decide to join us for one or all of the events, we are beyond excited to be with you this month. Learn more about each event further down in this newsletter!

One of the many aspects of our “normal lives” that COVID has made complicated is travel, both for pleasure and work. In this ever-evolving climate as each state and nation addresses the pandemic differently, it can feel impossible to know exactly when and how to purchase those tickets. We are plagued with concerns about when the best time to fly is, how to prepare, what obstacles we may face, and beyond. To help us navigate these issues and many more are Vanessa Erickson and Taylor Eddy, travel advisors at AAA in Augusta Maine. With nearly 40 years of combined experience in the travel industry, they are ready to help you set sail on your summer plans with ease.

Please come and help patients in need by donating Whole Blood or Power Reds. Whole Blood is the most common blood donation and helps all patients; Power Reds is the preferred donation for helping trauma patients. Power Reds takes about the same amount of time as Whole Blood donations. The benefit to you: It's a smaller needle, you get to sit up and you feel better afterward because you get fluids returned. The requirements for Power Reds are as follows: Male: Minimum of 5’1” and 130 lbs. Female: Minimum of 5’5” and 150 lbs. Blood types required for Power Reds are A-, B-, O- and O+.
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.

Rare Bird Art Studio is opening a new portion of their studio to something a bit different.
The Pollock Room gets its name from an influential abstract expressionist painter in the 1940/50's, Jackson Pollock. Like his famous drip and pouring work, The Pollock Room encourages you to let go, enjoy, and get messy with splashing and splattering paint at canvas or each other. For your one-hour private party reservation, you and your party will have control of the music and the paint. Included for each painter will be a 12 x 16-inch canvas (upgraded canvases available for purchase), a disposable poncho/clothing protection (One size fits most), shower caps, and shoe booties. (Although it is suggested to not wear your best clothing to throw paint.) Looking forward to making a mess with you!
