Where the rosary is recited, there will be days of peace and tranquility.... St. John Bosco

Meditative prayer, especially in the form of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is often a good approach to integrate into one's walk with Jesus. Meditative prayer, also referred to by St. Teresa of Avila as discursive prayer, is a pathway to a deeper relationship. One uses one's knowledge and imagination to ponder the teachings of God, the events of Jesus' life, and open oneself to a deeper experience of the divine. Frequent fervent prayer of the Rosary is an exercise that can lead one to a rich experience, understanding, and practical application of the Gospel in our lives.

Thank you for your support!

We would like to thank everyone for joining us on September 24th for our very first Virtual Benefit. Despite unanticipated technical difficulties, we are blessed by your participation and donations, monetary as well as items for the silent auction. Your support was overwhelming and appreciated in every sense.

Given the amount of time and effort put into this event, you can only imagine our disappointment when our Event Management Company advised us that the technical difficulties you witnessed in watching us live that evening were due to their technical support team in Colorado having no electrical power.

As Mother Cabrini writes in Journal of A Trusting Heart, "I will not permit my heart to be afflicted or saddened due to some misfortunes of life," and so our hearts remain grateful for our courage in hosting this event and the learning experience. While the virtual world may not always be reliable, what remains steadfast in the hearts of our community is the virtue of Mother Cabrini and the sacredness of the National Shrine.

Colorado Celebrates
Cabrini Day, October 5th

Earlier this year, Colorado replaced Columbus Day with Cabrini Day.

Colorado's Cabrini Day on October 5th is the first paid state holiday in the nation that recognizes a woman.  For many, this means a day off.  A day of freedom to celebrate.  We recommend you celebrate yourself and the women in your life; those who came before you and those present today whose lives have afforded you opportunities and choices unparalleled just a generation ago.

Tour the Shrine
Part of what makes the Shrine so special is greeting visitors from all walks of life. Whether they come because of their deep devotion to Mother Cabrini, their history with Columbus Hospital or their interest in learning about the compelling First American Citizen Saint that lived, worked and died in Chicago, they all delight in the unique and sacred experience of visiting and touring the Shrine.

We are currently welcoming groups of 10 people or less for a tour that covers Mother Cabrini's life, history of Columbus Hospital (1 fo 67 institutions of care Mother Cabrini founded), as well as the breathtaking architecture of the Chapel.

If you are interested in booking a tour, contact Lori Schneider at marketing@cabrininationalshrine.org or call 773-570-3313.
