Prayer for Peace

Lord Jesus Christ,
Make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love.
Where there is injury, let us offer pardon.
Where there is discord, let us build peace.
Oh Divine Lord, you taught us that those who work for peace are called the children of God. Help us to persist in establishing justice and truth as firm and lasting foundations of peace.

Lord you offer us peace as a gift and peace as a responsibility that we must realize with your help.  Give us the grace to reach for peace, to have attitudes of peace, that our words may be of peace, and that our works be works of peace.

Then, may we build the peace that we and our nations need.

Amen
A Message from our Rector
 Rev. Msgr. Richard Hynes
For 53 years now the Church celebrates the beginning of a New Year with World Day of Peace. Within our Communion Rite, the sign of peace cites a resurrection narrative of Christ appearing to his disciples; a slightly paraphrased text follows:

Lord Jesus Christ, when your apostles were alone and afraid,
confused by the past and uncertain of the future,
You came into their midst.
Then, You said to them: Peace I leave you, My peace I give you;
look not on our sins but on the faith of your Church
and graciously grant the disciples peace and unity
in accordance with Your will.
Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen

As we gaze into 2020 and face one another, may our heart-vision include the expectation of peace even amid fear and uncertainty. May our Church, our world, and our faith community allow for the gift of peace, offered and received.

Thank you for your generosity!

The Uganda Cabrini Community (UCC) is most grateful for our Advent Outreach.

Your donations amounted to $3710.00 which will allow the UCC to complete their water system. This system will provide water to a primary school, 40 families, parish priests and Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart (MSC's).

We would like to share the letter of thanks from Sister Diane DalleMolle, MSC.

Dear Bridget:

Thank you for the great donation for Uganda. What a gift for this mission where I am right now. Please thank all the generous donors who help us move forward in our work for these refugees whose lives are so difficult.

Let your donors know that our God will never be outdone in generosity. May they and their families know God's blessing.

Love, Sr. Diane.

Plan A Visit to the Shrine.
We Welcome Tours, Retreats and Musicians.

Part of what makes the Shrine so special is greeting visitors from all walks of life and from all over the world.  Whether they come because of their deep devotion to Mother Cabrini, their history with Columbus Hospital or their interest in learning about the compelling First American Citizen Saint that lived, worked and died in Chicago, they all delight in the unique and sacred experience of  visiting and touring the Shrine.

We offer docent led tours that cover Mother Cabrini's life, history of Columbus Hospital (1 of 67 institutions of care Mother Cabrini founded), as well as the breathtaking architecture of the Chapel and what the Missionary Sisters are currently doing around the world.

We welcome group tours and schools and parishes on retreat. We invite singers and musicians to fill our beautiful Chapel with their lively, spiritual music for our community to enjoy. While we unfortunately cannot accommodate weddings, funerals, or baptisms, please consider having your anniversary, quinceanera, or memorial service at the Shrine.
