From Washing Cars to Leading Luxury: 2004 Alumnus Ryan Maher
Like many successful careers, Ryan's began with a simple job and a strong work ethic.
While attending Gross Catholic High School, Ryan worked at Performance Chrysler Jeep
Dodge, part of Baxter Auto Group, washing cars and managing the detail department. When it
came time for college, he chose the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he earned a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, while continuing to work part-
time at the dealership. Ryan became an intern for Baxter Auto during his final semester at UNO and worked closely with Baxter's leadership team. This experience enhanced his understanding of the automotive business and opened the door to future leadership opportunities within the organization.
Ryan's career progressed from Finance Manager to Sales Manager before ultimately becoming
General Manager at Lexus of Omaha. Along the way, he accepted an opportunity to relocate to
Kansas City to lead the Legends Honda dealership. While there, he successfully oversaw the
opening of a second Honda dealership in Olathe, Kansas, where he also became a partner.
In 2024, Ryan had the opportunity to return home to Omaha as Partner and General Manager of
Lexus of Omaha. With the support of his partner, Dillon, he made the move back, a decision that
has since expanded his role to helping oversee Baxter Group's luxury automotive dealerships in
Omaha.
Despite the hundreds of people Ryan meets through his work, he says there's almost always a
Gross Catholic connection. "I still have my closest group of friends from Gross Catholic," Ryan
shares. "There's something special about the school and the community.” Ryan's journey from
washing cars as a high school student to leading one of the region's premier luxury dealerships
is a testament to where determination, opportunity, and a strong foundation can lead. His story
reflects the values instilled at Gross Catholic hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to
excellence that continue to shape alumni long after graduation.
