A note from Scott Bleck, District Administrator
Everyone is a Leader
With the recent fall elections near completion, leadership styles have been pressed on us all to reflect how one relates to leadership. One must not overlook the individual ability to lead. As a school community, we are appreciative of our student, District, family, and community leaders that set positive examples for others to follow. Look no further than oneself to reaffirm one's internal leadership strengths.

Leadership is for everyone
  • Allow members the ability to become leaders
  • “You” set the leadership example
  • Leaders that are closest to their colleagues/individuals have opportunities to be most successful
  • Leadership is an observable set of practices that everyone can employ in some way or another
  • Leadership can be learned through self- awareness and effort

Community Connections
Digitalized Yearbooks go back to 1941-42! *
Take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of New London's finest moments by accessing our recently digitized yearbooks! Click on 'Academics' and then 'Yearbooks.' * Please note the website is still under construction.
Bulldogs of Character in the Community brought 'Pumpkin Fest' to the ISMS. Families picked up free pumpkins from Festival Foods of New London and Cuff Farms to decorate. Watch the family fun and creativity created by this event.
Elementary
First grade students at Lincoln enjoyed a fall day playing in the leaves.
Kindergarteners at Parkview had fun celebrating Halloween by creating a Jack-O-Lantern and writing about it during Writer's Workshop.

Lincoln Student Council students participated in Kindness in Chalk writing positive messages on the sidewalk in front of Lincoln.
For a Mystery Science lesson about Material Magic, students in Mr. Lemiesz’s second grade class were challenged with building paper towers. There were height and strength requirements as well as a fixed number of materials available for the task.
Intermediate / Middle
Fifth grade social studies students learned about the geography of the United States and Wisconsin. Students picked two states to research. They learned how to use the online databases, use copyright free images, and also cite sources.
Sixth grade Social Studies students created their own clay tablet and used a Sumerian 'Alphabet' guide to write their first and last names. The Sumerian Cuneiform is the earliest form of a writing system known in history. Pictographs and symbols were used to represent trade goods like barley and livestock on clay tablets.
Secondary
Hannah Plamann created a video using iMovie for her project in SEM titled, Tell 'em You're a Bulldog!

Macy Reybrock placed 16th in the D1 State CC meet with a time of 18:59. This is 30 seconds off of her previous PR. Macy was the fastest freshman in the field. Congratulations, Macy!

Principles of Engineering (PLTW) students completed a unit on simple machines, gears, pulley drives, sprockets, and compound machines. For a final task students were asked to make a compound machine using VEX equipment and calculate the overall mechanical advantage of their machine.

Students in Introduction to Engineering completed a unit project designing a carnival game. Students were given constraints to follow and went through the design process to come up with a carnival game that could fit into a 3 ft by 10 ft area.
AP Psychology students were joined by NLHS alum Victoria Philippon via Google Meet for a presentation and Q&A session. Victoria is a PhD student at U of Central Arkansas in the Counseling Psychology program.
District
New London Elementary Connect teachers are so excited to be working with our SDNL virtual students this year.

Both Theresa Smith and Pam Yeager were awarded $500 for classroom books through the Patterson Grant. These educators teach 5th grade ELA, and finding a way to get their students to enjoy reading is their daily mission.
Lincoln staff members hope you all had a safe and Happy Halloween.
