Thousands of LBM Dealers Nationwide Received
the Biggest PPP Payouts. See Who's on the List
|
|
Applying for a loan under the Paycheck Protection Program turned out to be a smart decision for at least 3,345 lumberyards, home centers, hardware stores, and other building products dealers. Some may have received as much as $10 million from the program. None had to repay the loan if they kept their staff employed, and given how busy dealers have been lately, that wasn't hard to do. Who got money? Well, we only know the names of the 13.5% out of 4.9 million PPP recipients that collected $150,000 or more. Of those roughly 660,000 businesses,

Introducing Two Advances for LBM Marketers: A Specialized User Group and New Online Classes
|
|
At a time when the pandemic is forcing LBM operations to change their operations--sometimes within hours--poor communications with customers and staff can cost you dearly. That's why it's vital to have a good marketing/PR person on your team. Here are two things you can do to help that person's performance.
First, join the more than 100 dealers that already are taking part in a new user group that I've created specifically for marketing and PR people at LBM operations. It's free to join. Just
tell me
who deserves to join and I'll send an invitation.
And second, sign up for the
Webb Analytics Marketing and PR Boot Camp,
taking place online Aug. 26-27. You'll discover imaginative ideas and learn new techniques that will transform your firm's work. Plus, I have created a new session: How to recalibrate your marketing and ad campaigns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

83 People, 57 Companies; July's Notable Job Changes
|
Robyn Pollina
won't have any trouble finding the CEO's office at
Palmer-Donavin
when she takes over on Aug. 1. Pollina (left) has been the Ohio-based distributor's CFO for the past 23 years. She's just one of nearly 90 people in LBM who have moved jobs, and often moved companies, since May. Ten other companies named new branch managers. Others picked EVPs, SVP, VPs of operations, and other senior jobs. And there was one notable retirement:
Ken Dunham
left his post as executive director of the
West Coast Lumber and Building Material Association
