Our colleagues at Visit Rochester, the Strong National Museum of Play, and the Hyatt Regency Rochester have gone all out to provide you with a meaningful and memorable event. Apparently, you agree - our registered attendance has now surpassed 175!

Here's a look at the programming:


  • Roots of Rochester FAM Tour: Visiting three iconic Rochester locations with beverage tastings, fun food, and food for thought: The Genesee Brew House, the George Eastman Museum, and Black Button Distilling. There is still room on the bus: Learn More / Add to Your Registration
  • Wednesday Night Freestyle Dining: Network with colleagues and friends on Wednesday evening with Visit Rochester's restaurant guide
  • Know-How & How-To Marketing Workshops: Briskly-paced Thursday morning program with 20-minute workshops reviewing best-practice techniques, technologies, and strategies!
  • Destination Management Insights: Panel discussions and presentations from your peers to assist you in providing transformational stewardship/leadership in your destination!
  • Member-To-Member, 1:1 Networking Sessions: It's becoming a tradition: learn about the latest solutions available to address your goals and objectives in 2024 and beyond. Review the participating solutions providers and reserve your free time slots
  • TPA Meeting: Calling All TPA's: Join Ross Levi and the I LOVE NY team Thursday afternoon at 4 PM for an informative briefing.
  • Tourism Excellence Awards Ceremony: The Awards Ceremony, reception, private access to the Strong National Museum of Play, and a fun-filled NYSTIA 'GAME NIGHT' on Thursday evening will be unforgettable! Bring a Guest: Purchase additional here
  • Post-Awards 'Garbage Plate' Afterparty: A late-night Rochester tradition, this casual food-fest is hosted by your Visit Rochester friends at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.
  • Friday Morning Keynote Remarks: featuring Chris Thompson, President & CEO of Brand USA, followed by a joint presentation of 2024 international marketing opportunities partnering with I LOVE NY.

DEAI Panel: Cass Harrington, President & CEO at Destination Marketing Corp.

Cass Harrington, President & CEO of Destination Marketing Corp. (Otsego & Schoharie Counties TPA), will speak on the DEAI In Action: From First Steps to Results panel on Thursday, September 14th. Cass will discuss the intricacies of the successful 2022 Hispanic Marketing Campaign developed for 'This is Cooperstown', aimed at building on the momentum of a significant Latino Hall of Fame inductee and boosting Hispanic visitors to Cooperstown.

Rebecca Griffin, Hospitality Department Chair/Faculty at  Monroe Community College - Hospitality, will speak on the DEAI In Action: From First Steps to Results panel on Thursday, September 14th. In particular, Rebecca will speak on her involvement in Visit Rochester's I.D.E.A. committee, and the partnerships with DEAI industry stakeholders to implement Hospitality industry training.

New Member Introduction: MacKenzie Zarzycki from Discover Saratoga

Please welcome MacKenzie Zarzycki, Director of Marketing & Communications at Discover Saratoga, to the NYSTIA Community! MacKenzie's role involves creating and implementing marketing strategies that promote Saratoga County as a premier destination for meetings and events. She also supports the Vice President of Membership in recruitment and annual events. She is currently on the Wesley Foundation Board in Saratoga Springs.

Travel Show Recap: Prime Life Expo, Springfield, MA

NYSTIA exhibited at the Prime Life Expo at MGM Grand Springfield in Springfield, MA, on August 27th. Attendees were predominately aged 50+ and many were looking to plan their next trip to New York! They expressed interest in historic sites, parks, and multiday trips through different destinations within New York State.

Lake George Triathalon Festival Returns for Labor Day Weekend

Alpha Win hosts the 17th annual Lake George Triathlon Festival this coming Labor Day weekend. On Friday, September 1 through Sunday, September 3, the bikeways, sidewalks and shores of Lake George and Queensbury will be filled with willful athletes competing to win one of the featured races: the Alpha Sprint, Alpha Olympic, or the Alpha 70.3.
