REST is now in 28 states!  Nine individuals completed the first Train-the-Trainer course in the state on Aug. 1-2 , at the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Jackson.

The New York State Caregiving and Respite Coalition has several Train-the-Trainer courses planned in August and September: on Aug. 9-10, at LiveOn NY, Sept. 7-8, at Town Square for Aging, Getzville, and Sept. 13-14, at Jewish Family Services of Ulster County .
A Companion course will take place on Aug. 8 , at Russell Barnard Senior Housing, Plattsburgh.
Four individuals completed the REST Essentials course on June 29 , at Broome West Senior Center, Endwell.
A Train-the-Trainer course took place on July 20-21, at Chemung County Department of Aging and Long-Term Care, Elmira. View a picture of the six individuals who completed the course.
A Companion course took place on July 25-26 , at the Stanislaus County Aging & Veterans Services Modesto, training six individuals.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Modesto , will host a Companion course on Aug. 12, providing an opportunity for volunteers to provide respite care to the growing number of parishioners who need help at home.

Alabama Lifespan Respite plans to present components of creating and implementing a Caregiver Simulation during the National Lifespan Respite Conference, Oct. 11-12, in Huntsville. Modeled after The Community Action Poverty Simulation©, and adapted from a similar simulation by James Madison University, attendees will take on the role of caregiver or care receiver. Participants will see firsthand daily struggles they face, and how respite care can make a positive impact.

Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division, will offer a Train-the-Trainer course on Nov. 2-3, in Reno. See details.

REST staff will exhibit and offer the REST Essentials course during the second annual National Caregiving Conference, Nov. 10-11 , at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare, Chicago. The conference - themed "Our Boldest Hours: Before. During. After." - will draw caregivers, professionals, and those interested in caregiving issues. Learn more and register for the event here .

Marquette Health Department, Negaunee , held a Companion course on July 27-28.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services will hold REST training events this November, to celebrate National Family Caregiving Month.  Stay tuned for details.

A staff member from CHRIS 180, a mental health, child welfare and family service organization in Atlanta, recently completed a Train-the-Trainer event in Opelika, Ala. The name CHRIS 180 comes from the organization's core values: Creativity, Honor, Respect, Integrity, and Safety. The organization carries out its mission - to heal children, strengthen families, and build community - by providing children, adults, and families with high-quality, trauma-informed behavioral health services and support systems.

The Kupuna Caregiver Act recently passed , providing financial assistance - up to $70 per day - to working family caregivers.  Click to learn more.

Western Arizona Council of Governments  has scheduled a Companion course for Sept. 13, in Mohave County. 
BayPath Elder Services, Inc., Marlborough, will host a Companion course this fall to train individuals to provide respite care for caregivers in the community.
