Read how one of our athletes, Lewis Katz, Rebuilt and Redefined his life:

Lewis Katz started skiing with ASMS while he was in high school. As a teen with epilepsy, typical high school experiences were not always easy or accessible for him. But after a couple seasons of coming up to ski, he also attended the Teen Adventure Sleep Away Weekend. The following year, Lewis joined the winter program as an assistant volunteer, helping other new skiers through first day jitters.
Lewis (in the tan hat and blue jacket) was part of our first Teen Adventure Sleep Away Weekend.
Lewis looks back to those first years and sees his experience of being a student as part of a pivotal time for him, and the community he discovered within ASMS as pivotal relationships. He says that often his time spent with the other students, volunteers and staff really “helped develop a straight forward mindset” and helped him develop confidence to set goals for his future, specifically to apply to college.

Now a sophomore at Lasell University, he is studying Radio and Video Production. Lewis is having a blast with college and dorm life. He attributes his social outgoingness and confidence to friends from ASMS, that he still has close relationships with today.
Lewis continues to be a leader and to give back. He is the treasurer of the University’s Outdoor Adventure Club and is one of the leaders planning a ski trip for fellow students. One of his favorite parts about being an officer in the club is the great people he gets to work with.
