Gifts provide safe sidewalks at Madonna Towers

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, new sidewalks on the 19th Avenue side of Madonna Towers have been installed, including curbless sidewalks around the entrance! Now residents have less curbs to navigate with walkers or wheelchairs when going to outings or walking around campus.

Resident Sarabeth Watson is excited about the change."What a wonderful improvement both for walkers and for grocery carts bringing shopping bags and deliveries in the building!" she said.

Upgraded beds build strength, independence

Thanks to everyone who has so generously responded to our recent appeal for gifts toward new, upgraded beds for our skilled nursing facility. We're hoping to add 56 upgraded beds at Madonna Towers at a cost of $2,400 each, but we're not there yet. A gift of any size today will help us get closer to our goal.

The advanced adjustments, controls and safety features of these beds, such as built-in hand rails, and simultaneous head and knee adjustments, can promote mobility, strength and independence for our skilled nursing care residents, including in our rehabilitation unit.

We have already seen these gains among residents using the six upgraded beds currently in use, according to Interim Executive Director Molly Wendroth. "Residents in our newer bed models get to work alongside our trained therapy professionals and nursing staff members and make necessary gains toward strength and independence goals daily."

Our hope is for every bed in our nursing care facility to offer these benefits. Will you help us help our seniors make gains toward daily strength and independence goals? You can easily give online today!

We Give Spirit Week Campaign raises $6,120

Thank you to CREW (Committee for Resident and Employee Well-being) for their work in helping raise $6,120 during our We Give Spirit Week associate giving campaign October 14-20! 100% of the total raised will go toward purchasing new culinary equipment which includes: a hydration station, hospitality carts, and coffee machines for our employee breakrooms across our three campuses (Towers, Meadows, and Byron).

The committee got associates into the spirit to give with activities including prize drawings, dress-up days, free popcorn, root beer floats, Caribou coffee and bagels. And they boosted our total raised with mini-fundraisers including a pumpkin sale, chili cook-off and walking tacos.

Many local businesses also gave more than $1,800 to this campaign in the form of in-kind gifts for our events and prize drawings. Thanks to all who participated!
