This is why we make blankets

On December 1, 2019, there were 16,388 children in care in Ohio, from newborn babies to youth 18 years old.

In December alone, when many families were making plans to celebrate the holidays together, 454 Ohio children were removed from their homes because of parents ’ substance abuse or mental health issues, incarceration or death.

Meet our New Partner
One foster Mom creates Stitched Together!

We are blessed to have another partner in our mission to provide love and hope to children in foster care. Stitched Together was created to meet a need for kids entering the foster care system.

They want to provide every child entering foster care with their own Hope Case and something to call their own. More

(Left) Stitched Together Founder, Karie Griffin, and her daughter picked up their first group of blankets for Hope Cases early in February.
MPI to make 200 blankets at conference event!
A network of Blanket Angels connecting
Florida, Westerville, Cincinnati and Chicago made it happen.

Blankets on the way to young adults via Ohio Bridges
Tim is leaving our workshop with his car STUFFED FULL of 87 large quilts and blankets for youth 18 - 21 years old participating in the Ohio Bridges program.

Bridges helps young adults, formerly in foster care, step into life on the right foot. Get involved by helping us make blankets for these young adults moving into their first apartment or their first “own space” in a host home. Learn about Ohio Bridges .

Blanket Angel Snapshots
In December, the OhioHealth Transformation Division had a wonderful time making blankets.
The Antioch, Ohio Rotary Club shared this great video with us, made at their recent Blanket Party. We enjoyed seeing it and thought you would, too. Many thanks to Antioch Rotary Club!
We received a kind note and great photos from Scout Troop 22131 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. The Scouts made 12 blankets for us. Thanks!
Sharing the love on Valentine's Day

Even though we are facing disturbing foster care statistics that highlight the urgent need we try to meet, we can lighten our serious work with a little fun with our blanket angels. On Valentine’s Day, we took photos of the angels who happened to deliver blankets – and were willing to wear red, heart-shaped sparkly glasses for a photo!

"Bee Happy" ~ inspired by this little cutie!
We encourage all our blanket angels to include a positive and encouraging message on the tags they sign to the child receiving this blanket!

When we can't be with the child who may not be feeling good about the situation they are in...your notes will LIFT THEM UP!
