Take 10 minutes to help inform the direction of 4-H!
You are invited to complete an  online survey  for the University of California 4-H Youth Development Program as a follow up to the focus group to which you were invited last year. Whether you were able to participate or not in the focus groups, we welcome your response to this survey!
The University of California 4-H Youth Development program strives to promote positive youth development and to develop strong leaders. We are in the process of evaluating the program in an effort to plan for the future. Our number one goal is to ensure that we continue to provide the very best 4-H program and experience possible. To do so, it is important that we hear and learn from those we serve, partners, and internal and external stakeholders.
This optional survey consists of all multiple-choice questions and will take approximately  10 minutes of your time . You may stop answering the survey at any time. Information collected in this survey will be used to inform a 6-10 year strategic plan; and shared in scholarly publications.
Participants’ personal information (e.g., name) will not be disclosed to others beyond the University of California (UC) representatives responsible for the management or oversight of this study. Therefore, personal information will not be used in any publications or reporting of results.
If you have questions about this survey or the strategic planning process, please contact Kit Alviz, analyst with University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources’ Office of Program Planning and Evaluation, at 510-987-0027 or . We appreciate your support in this effort.

Please submit your response by end of day on Thursday, February 8, 2018.

Management Board Update: Latino Youth at the Youth Summits
The California 4-H Management Board partnered with Dr. Fabregas , Assistant Director for Diversity & Expansion, on an initiative to promote attendance by Latino youth at the Youth Summits.

With the help of Latino Initiative 4-H Program Representatives, we identified 4-H'ers in each of the seven Latino Initiative counties to participate in the Youth Summits. In total, we sent approximately 45 youth and 10 chaperones to learn leadership skills and fully participate in this 4-H experience. The registration fees and travel costs for 4-H'ers from various counties plus this group were fully funded by the California 4-H Management Board. We hope this experience will build stronger connections between youth in the club program and members in after-school and other 4-H programs.

Promoting greater diversity in the 4-H program is a key statewide goal and the California 4-H Management Board believes participation in leadership events like the Youth Summits will further this. We encourage local clubs and counties to take similar actions to increase diversity at local camps and leadership events and better serve the full spectrum of your communities.
