FEBRUARY 2022
O magnify the Lord and let us exalt His name together!
"I have it all planned out -- plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for". --Jeremiah 29:11
Dear Friend,

Even though we are experiencing uncertain times, we also see God answering our prayers like never before! Here’s what He has done for us recently.....
RESIDENT TESTIMONY
Ashley (Ash) has been in the program for about 2 months. After years of drug addiction that negatively impacted his life and relationships, Ash came to a point where he knew he was done. While incarcerated for a drug offense, Ash responded to the gospel which was presented by jail chaplains. He turned to Jesus Christ for a new start in life. Ash came to the House of Hope to grow in his faith and establish his sobriety in a supportive, accountable, environment. Ash is growing in his faith and maintaining his sobriety. It is a pleasure to have him at the House of Hope. View Ash's testimony here.

MINISTRY PARTNERS
We are so grateful for our ministry partners who God has sent to support us in every step of this ministry journey. Our ministry partners are so positive and eager to help us with our fundraisers, they help us promote them and raise awareness of this ministry, they help financially, they provide spaces for our events and workshop needs. And they pray for us.
Our Father God answers our prayers.
Let’s not forget WHY it’s so important to keep on praying and
trusting our faithful God.
Prayer Needs in 2022

As you hold us up in your prayers, here are some ways
you can continue to lift us up.

1. FURNITURE FOR OUR PHASE 3 HOUSE
After participants complete phase 1 & 2 of the program, they move into the phase 3 house which we are working on. We could really use help with furniture items such as a nice full-size bed, tall dresser, nightstands and bedside lamps. Please email us here if you’d like to donate.

2. INCREASED CHURCH ENGAGEMENT
We are looking for more church partners. There are a number of ways you and your church can get involved: through financial donations, volunteering and mentoring, and more.

3. MORE VOLUNTEERS
We have several teams comprised of volunteers that are responsible for

4. MONTHLY GIVING
We count on spirit-led generosity to fulfill the mission of the Greater Hayward House of Hope. Please consider monthly giving as an option. You can set this up through your bill-pay with your bank or through the House of Hope website.

STAFF UPDATES
Dan Cousins, (Interim) Recovery Coach & Trade Skills
Dan has joined the staff of the House of Hope on a provisional basis, with the hope of bringing him on permanently. Dan has significant experience and skills in the area of addiction recovery. Dan can relate to the guys with his personal story of addiction and recovery. By God’s grace we are seeing God restore Dan to a place in which he can use his talents and gifts for the glory of Jesus Christ. One more God sighting in the works!
Paul Zilly, Client Support
Paul has moved into a new support role for the House of Hope to assist the executive director with essential chaplain related responsibilities. This includes screening and following up with applicants (past and present), visiting and providing guidance for those incarcerated, and assisting those incarcerated in applying for residency at the House of Hope.

Ryan Bollig, Intern Volunteer and Program Graduate
Ryan will help support the house in various ways on a part-time basis. He will manage what’s needed on grocery shopping day, provide rides for resident appointments, do occasional overnight watch and event planning and supervising. He also provides occasional support work at the HOH workshop.
Marty Mitchell, Overnight Watch
Marty joined the House of Hope team in November. He moved to Hayward from California two years ago to be closer to family. Marty’s primary duties are to stay overnight at the house, be available for the guys in the evenings and mornings before they start their classroom work. Marty also checks the house to make sure it is safe and secure for the night.
THE WORKSHOP & TRADE SKILLS
A significant benefit to House of Hope residents is learning trade skills and preparing for workplace success. Resurrected Furniture, a custom furniture builder, has partnered with the House of Hope to train our residents in cabinet and furniture making skills. This is proving to be a significant value for all parties involved.

Grace Lutheran Church has allowed us to use space in their workshop. At this location we build hand crafted items that are sold to help fund the ministry. Significant woodworking skills are taught in the process.

The House of Hope also takes orders to build sheds and do minor property repairs in exchange for a free will offering. The first goal is to teach trade skills. However, these donations help pay our staff and bills.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY
We are so blessed by friends who pray for us with the ministry partners who help program participants learn trade skills and for your year-end contributions.

Still want to give? DONATE HERE. Thank You!
Those who look to HIM are RADIANT!

With much anticipation for 2022,
Rev. Mike Thompson, Executive Director
