Have you wondered why the
Beach House hasn't been available in winter months since our other homes are offered year-round?
Soon after buying this home we realized the heating system and insulation were insufficient for frigid mid-winter nights, particularly in the original 1920's-built rear 1st floor portion of the home. So over the past couple of years we've made improvements to the insulation and recently added a supplemental gas furnace (picture to the left) in that area of the home. We left all the baseboard electric heaters in place for back-up as well. Therefore, effective immediately we're excited to start offering the
Beach House for year-round use.
The view over the lake of snow falling and unique ice formations can be quite beautiful. Build a fire in the over-sized fireplace and enjoy winter's splendor with some friends and family. Perhaps do some ice-fishing, snow-mobile riding, ice-skating or simply build a snowman.
Yes, that says "2020
and 2021". The larger homes often book a year or more in advance so it's particularly important to book early if you have a fixed week that you
must have.

Casino Anyone?
Have you checked out the gorgeous new
Del Lago Casino just down the road about 35 minutes? It makes for a great little trip to see a
show, gamble a bit and enjoy a nice dinner. We highly recommend the buffet. Just don't plan to eat anything the rest of the day. Tie the casino visit into a weekend with friends in Sodus Point for a nice little getaway.
The living room sectional sofa in Bay View at the Point wasn't holding up so last fall we installed a brand new sectional. It may look similar but it's a different brand that we hope holds up better for many years of enjoyment.
If you ever notice something that's not holding up we'd appreciate hearing from you. We try to inspect the homes routinely though since they're booked non-stop for about 3 months straight each summer and sometimes for multiple months in winter, we don't always know if a recliner breaks, a mattress starts to sag, a yard light isn't working, etc. Any suggestions from our guests are always welcome.
Local Recommendations
Check out
The Tasting Room at DeFisher Fruit Farms. This distillery is about 1/2 hour's drive from the cottages but well worth the drive, particularly on a Friday evening when they team up with a local restaurant offering free hors d'oeuvres with live music. Check it out the next time you're at the Point.
Open year-round The Franklin House Tavern is a great little place to catch dinner, drinks, a view of the bay, etc. It's a very short drive by car or snow mobile (maybe 1/2 mile at most), or an enjoyable walk or bike ride in nice weather. If you go, be sure to ask about the hot apple roll dessert. You won't be sorry.
Go Snow Tubing! Try some snow tubing at
Greystone just 30 minutes' drive from the cottages. Fun for the entire family with snow making equipment and 10 groomed lanes. While there check out Stoney's Pub
for a break or time to relax & warm yourself in the full-service restaurant and bar.
