Pastoral Perspective

MARCH 02, 2024

Folks,

This is such an incredible time to be part of FUMC Hallsville! My faith is continually encouraged by watching the members here step up and serve so passionately and in so many different ways! Whenever our youth director unexpectedly resigned and I needed to run the youth ministry in the interim once again, couples volunteered to lead both the Crosswalk Sunday School class and the Wednesday night Bible study so that neither would fall by the wayside. When we collected all of those books for the prison ministry this past month, a member sat in the sanctuary for hours on Wednesday cataloging and boxing every single book and even volunteered to hand deliver them so that we could save on postage. When I announced the goal of raising $5,000 for The Johnny Way, a member came to me and offered to match the first $1,000 given dollar-for-dollar. When we had First Friends Sunday several weeks ago to donate towards scholarships for the preschool, a member braved the monsoon and hail that morning to bring a cake she made for the auction, even while her husband stayed home and tended to their flooding house. This is truly an incredible church, and I hope each of you feels as blessed to be part of it as I do!

Grace and Peace,

Greg Morgan

Doubt it - Can God really do this?

Mark 9:14-29

Featured Ministry - First Friends Preschool

If you came through the preschool this month, you may have heard singing about a banana or coconut or cherry, but that's not the fruit of the spirit! This month we talked a lot about the fruit of the spirit. Can you name them?

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control...

These are not things we can conjure up ourselves. These are gifts from our Heavenly Father through the Holy Spirit. We learned how we can use these gifts to serve others and see some of them in action through our community helpers. Visits from our local police and fire departments educated the children in stranger danger and fire safety.

Sounds like fun, right?!? It is and now is the time to register for Fall 2024! We are filling up fast, so if you have questions call Christy or Judy at 903.660.5025.
