From the Pastor

Grace and peace to you, FPC!

Though I’ve preached for you a dozen times over the last two years, I’m looking forward to my first Sunday as your part-time bridge pastor on October 4!

It’s World Communion Sunday, when we remember and rejoice that, in an old song’s words, “all who follow Jesus, all around the world—yes, we’re the Church together!” At FPC, everyone is welcome to receive Communion, because Jesus Christ calls all people to trust in him.

The kids in Worship Our Way (WOW) (our Sunday school for pre-K through fifth graders) will help make worship extra special when they sing during the Offering.

I hope you’ll be in worship to hear the kids sing, to share the Lord’s Supper, and to hear and respond to the Word of God, who brings and binds us together.

See you on Sunday, and SDG (Solo Dei Gloria)!

October Mission of the Month

Our October Mission of the Month is our First Presby Deacons. Through their ministry of care and compassion, our Deacons support members of our church family in many ways, including delivering flowers, providing transportation, and organizing luncheons, dinners, and blood drives.

Another important part of the Deacons’ ministry is providing financial assistance to members of our church family and others in the local community who may be experiencing a time of need. This assistance is made possible through the generous support of our congregation.

During October, we invite you to support the Deacons with your gifts as they continue this important ministry of caring for those within our church family and our community.

Please keep these members and friends in your prayers:

Anne Branton, Gayle Christian, Felicia Clapper, Carole DeBernardi, Susan Holland (cousin of Jean and Jim McCullough), Jean Lavdadio (good friend and neighbor of Jack Speers), Mary Kay Leonard (stage 4 cancer), Lisa Neff, Aletha Sciubba, Rose Marie Sharkey, Sue Ulmer, Karen Duffy and Anne Marie Pellegrino (friends of Kathy Wike), Jim Doyle (member, recovery), Melissa Greenleaf (former youth group leader 2005–2007; clinical trial), those dear to Rev. Everett Sahrbeck (former pastor 1992–2004; died Aug. 1, 2026), Brian Granatta (brother-in-law of the Reeds), those dear to Michelle Hawley (former member, passed away on Monday). The offering prayer pew cards present an invitation to add someone to the prayer list for four weeks (renewable).

OUR DEACONS ARE HERE TO HELP

Need help of any kind?

Our deacons and pastor make a special effort to stay in touch and be available for anyone who may need help. They will be glad to provide meals, shop for groceries, pick up prescriptions, chat on the phone, or send encouraging texts. Do not go without the help you need. We implore those who fall into higher-risk categories to not take unnecessary risks. Please let us help.
