A Message from our President
Happy Spring, everyone! The weather has finally turned and with the warmer weather and longer days comes lots of great activities.
As I write this, the finishing touches will be put on our early St. Patrick’s Day celebration with our friends and fellow members at AVE – Audio Visual Experience in Hampton. I hope I see you there.
April brings us a great education event with our very own “Marketer Extraordinaire,” Kirsten Larsen Schultz. Kirsten is the owner of Marketing Ally. Like all of our cool flyers and handouts? Thank Kirsten. Need some help with social media and getting your business out there? She’ll show you how. And she can help. Be on the lookout for the details for this great event. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us and supporting us, Kirsten!
I know we all know the saying about “Aprils showers and May flowers,” but really most of us hear the month of May and think one thing: GOLF! Our Annual Spring Charity Golf Tournament is selling out quickly, so be sure to sign up right away. We’ll be hitting the links at Passaconaway Country Club on May 13th. Watch your emails for sign-ups and updates. Peter and his Committee are going to make this year’s the best one yet! I, for one, can’t wait.
Our wonderful NHHBA staff, led by CEO Matt Mayberry, is as busy as ever too. The team is hard at work in Concord lobbying for our best interests. Quick and Easy Request: if you see an email asking you to click a link to email your State Senator and State Rep(s), please take ten second to do it. As Matt says, “We don’t look mighty if we talk in whispers.” So, help us spread the message to those who need to hear it.
Beers with Builders is full steam ahead as well all over our great state. Make sure to pop into the nearest one and meet some fellow members and talk shop.
The NH State Home Show was last weekend, and it was an epic success. There were more than 4,000 attendees and the event itself sold out for booths and vendors. The Committee did an amazing job and put in lots of hours that nobody ever sees to make this such a big success. Some of our vendors tell us that this show alone books them into the Fall with work. How great is that? Next year, the Home Show will be moving away from the weekend that is typically NH school vacation week, so we can get even bigger crowds and have the chance for slightly better weather. Another great idea to help improve our industry visibility to the great residents of our state.
Lastly, I’ll leave you with a HUGE victory: the new administration in Washington has announced a six-month delay on forcing the housing agencies (FHA, VA, Fannie, Freddie) to only finance new homes built under the green energy tax we defeated here in New Hampshire. We don’t like these federal mandates and all of our hard work defeating it here at home has helped put it on the ropes in Washington. We are working hard to ease the affordability crisis that is contributing in part to the overall crisis in the industry. You helped make that happen: thank you!
Have a great rest of your March. We look forward to seeing you at an event soon.
Cheers,
Ray
