Coming soon…

Last year the Township of Lake of Bays created a brochure about what waterfront property owners should know before altering their shorelines or removing vegetation. Both the Township and the Lake of Bays Association (LOBA) want to be sure all waterfront property owners on Lake of Bays read it. So, they have partnered up and are distributing this helpful resource with the next issue of Dockside magazine, which is delivered to all docks on the lake. LOBA’s membership brochure will also be included to attract some of the 35% of waterfront residents who are not currently members of LOBA. Look for it early this month.

Fire Danger Rating Elevated to High in Lake of Bays

The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating has been elevated to HIGH due to increasingly dry conditions and limited rainfall across the region. With no rain in the forecast, the risk of wildfire remains serious.

Extreme caution must be taken with all open flames. Small fires are permitted in most rural areas of Muskoka keeping in mind that NO DAYTIME BURNING (8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) is allowed. You must have adequate tools and water to extinguish the fire if the need arises and you must be with your fire at all times.

An Exciting New Project has Launched

The Township of Lake of Bays library is embarking on a major project!. The branch in Dwight is going to expand and modernize. This is the first time in the history of the Branch that a project of this scope and nature is about to happen.

While the Township will fund the new structure, the Library Board and staff are embarking on an ambitious fundraising campaign with a goal of

$1-million in order to outfit the interior of the space (think book shelves, computers, table chairs, and so much more). So far they have successfully raised $475,000. Attached is a flyer that briefly explains the project goals and a QR code for more information about the project as well as contact information if you want to talk to someone about a donation. Every donation counts!
